Yesterday, Brecon Corries U10s took part in the festival at Treforest, facing some very tough, talented and physical opposition throughout the day.

The boys put in a huge shift from start to finish, competing brilliantly in very wet and challenging conditions.
Every game presented a new test, and our lads showed great determination, courage and teamwork against some excellent sides coming away with amazing results.

Most importantly, the majority of the boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and embraced the opportunity to learn.
The lads who stayed positive and kept working hard for each other thrived in a new environment and we could see as the day went on the players grew in confidence with every game.

By the end of the day, we left Treforest as a more resilient, stronger and more confident team than when we arrived.
A great experience and one that will stand the boys in good stead for the future.

Well done, lads, we’re really proud of the work you put in to every training session and at every game.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and grandparents for all of your support and sticking with the terrible weather conditions yesterday.

And a special thanks to Danny Keddle who despite braking his collarbone a few weeks ago still came along to cheer on his friends. πŸ‘

Corries U9s went down to Treforest yesterday to play in a tournament.
A great day and really good for the boys to be playing different teams, and to test themselves.

First up we played Hopkinstown. We weren’t sure what to expect but a goal from Max gave us the lead. A mix up from a corner right at the end saw Hopkinstown equalise.

Second match, we faced Cwmbran. These were a very strong side, physical and quick and though we competed well, we weren’t quite strong enough and the match finished 3-0 to Cwmbran.

The third match was against Sully Sports. Again, another good team. Corries took the lead after a goal from Evan and with some committed defending and great play, Corries didn’t put a foot wrong and won 1-0.

Fourth game was against hosts Treforest. In an inspired change to the lineup, the coaches put Jimmy up front (in reality, Jimmy asked as he wanted to try and score a goal, but we’ll take credit anyway!) He went on to score a hat trick in 2 minutes and probably could have scored one or two more. Cai bagged a fourth goal and Corries won 4-0.

Last up we faced Fleur de Lys. The game started the same as the last finished, with Corries determined to get the win. Evan scored first, followed by two goals from Cai. We weathered a bit of a storm from our opponents, before Max scored and we finished winners, 4-1.

Can’t fault the boys today, they didn’t put a foot wrong. Three wins, a draw and a loss is a decent day’s work and we learned a lot from the experience. They were all brilliant, everyone contributed to a high standard. Just a shame our wonderful support didn’t break out into β€œCorries are massive, everywhere we go!”

That’s it for the season, match-wise. Our support from parents, grandparents and siblings has been exceptional and the season has been fantastic.

I’d like to thank my son and fellow coach Ollie Croppier - he’s done a wonderful job this year winning the respect of players, parents, and opposing teams with his calm demeanour and wise tactical decisions.
Couldn’t do this without you, young man - you make me very proud.

Corries U8s had a good day at Treforest Festival yesterday.
We were scheduled to play 6 games, but ended up playing 8.

The attitude and application the boys showed yesterday was testament to the improvement they have made over the season.
They are physical, organised and have massive ability throughout the whole team.
The recent tournaments have really helped to build the team spirit and to see the enjoyment they are having is brilliant.

They are a joy to coach!

Thanks as always to the great travelling support.

Corries U8s travelled to Ely Rangers yesterday for a festival against some fantastic Cardiff based teams.
There were a lot of Development Centre Players on show and the standard was really high.
We went with 5 players, so the boys knew they had to put in a huge effort in really hot conditions.

First up we faced HPR. We took it to them from the off and boys showed us all what a talented footballing side they are.
Samson(6), Osian (2), Caleb (1).

Next up was Ely Rangers.
This was really tight for the first half, with some fantastic passing and teamwork we broke the deadlock and won 4-0 with fantastic teamwork and strikes on goal.
Charlie (2) Osian (2).

Then onto Caerau Ely who were another very big side.
We were 2-0 down and looking at defeat. The whole team dug deep and started passing the ball well which allowed Samson a sweet break and finish. This was followed up with a screamer from a set piece and Samson was able to level the game.
In the dying seconds, the team found themselves in the box and Samson found the top corner, to win 3-2.
The best performance I have seen the team come up with.

The last game was against Canton who had comfortably won all their games. With heavy legs the boys battled hard but found themselves 4-0 down.
We came back at them and made a real game of it, the teamwork was outstanding with every player giving it their all.
Samson found another 2 goals but it was too much to pull back.
They all put in a really brave performance.

The boys played their socks off and gave 100% all afternoon.
Special mention has to go to Iwan for his defensive discipline and tackling whatever came his way.
It was so rewarding to see the boys playing with the commitment they always have, but also at a level I have never seen them reach as a team before.
I was so proud of them today and I am excited about the future.
