Fantastic to get our newly selected squad together this evening. We mixed some light skills work with plenty of opportunities for the players to get to know one another, because building a successful team starts long before training and the first match is played.

Creating a positive environment, developing friendships, and building trust within the group is just as important as anything we do with a rugby ball.

Of course… the last 10 minutes descended into absolute chaos! 😂

The coaches and parents had been plotting a ‘secret’ water fight to cool the players down after training. The plan was perfect… until it wasn’t!!

Safe to say it backfired spectacularly on the coaching team, with what looked like more than a little help from the parents! 💦🤣

There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter, and memories already being made. If this evening is anything to go by, we’re in for a fantastic season both on and off the field.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a great evening. Here’s to many more like it! 🖤

🖤🏉 It’s More Than Rugby… 🏉🖤

At Neath Schools Rugby, we often say that what we do is about so much more than the game itself… and this video captures that perfectly.

This year’s squad members, Nelly James and Evan Jones, took to the stage during their school’s end-of-year talent show and performed “Neath, Neath, Neath” by Woolfey. Hearing them sing it loud and proud in front of their school was a moment that made us all smile.

It’s not just about learning to pass, tackle or score tries. It’s about building confidence, character, friendships, and creating memories that last a lifetime. It’s about giving young people the belief to stand tall, back themselves, and be proud of who they are.

Seeing two of our boys standing there, proudly singing about the mighty Boys in Black, shows exactly what Neath Schools Rugby is all about. The pride they have in representing their district extends far beyond the rugby field, and that’s something every player, parent and coach should be proud of.

A huge credit to Woolfey for writing such an iconic anthem. It’s become a song that means so much to so many associated with Neath Rugby, and hearing the next generation embracing it is something really special. 🎶

Da iawn, boys! 👏 You absolutely smashed it and represented Neath Schools Rugby brilliantly. We couldn’t be prouder. 🖤

🏉 **Neath Schools Rugby U11s – 2026/27 Squad Announcement** 🏉

Following a series of highly competitive trials, we are delighted to announce our Neath Schools Rugby squad for the 2026/27 season.

Firstly, we would like to thank every player who attended the trials. The standard on display was exceptional, with an incredible amount of skill, talent, determination, and potential evident throughout. As coaches, the quality of players made selection extremely difficult and resulted in many challenging conversations.

Such was the standard of this year's trials that we have selected our largest squad ever giving more players the opportunity to represent Neath Schools Rugby and continue their development within the district environment.

For those who have been unsuccessful on this occasion, please remember what the coaches said during the trials. The door is never shut! Continue working hard at your schools and clubs, keep developing your skills, maintain a positive attitude, and take every opportunity to improve. Many players have gone away, worked hard, and returned stronger. Your rugby journey is only just beginning.

To those who have been selected, congratulations. This is a fantastic achievement and one you should be very proud of. We look forward to meeting with you all in the coming weeks, introducing you to the coaching team, and beginning the exciting process of building a squad for the forthcoming season.

We ask that one parent/carer completes the attached registration form as soon as possible. Once received, your details will be added to the squad communication group where further information will be shared.

Last evening, we had the privilege of attending the Welsh Schools Rugby Union Junior Group 50th Anniversary Dinner, a fantastic occasion celebrating five decades of school rugby and the countless individuals who have contributed to its success.

As we reflect on this milestone, it feels only right to recognise and thank everyone who has played a part in the journey of Neath Schools Rugby over the years. To the players who proudly wore the black and white jersey, the coaches who gave up their time to develop and inspire young people, the parents and families who stood on the touchline in all weathers, and the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, thank you.

Neath Schools Rugby is far more than a team. It is a community built on passion, friendship, commitment, and pride. Every player selected, every coach involved, every parent who travelled the length and breadth of the country, and every supporter who cheered from the sidelines has helped shape our proud history.

We are incredibly proud of what Neath Schools Rugby has achieved, but even prouder of the people who have made it possible. The success, memories, friendships, and opportunities created through school rugby are a testament to generations of dedicated individuals who believed in giving young people the chance to represent their schools, clubs, communities, and district.

As we celebrate the Welsh Schools Rugby Union’s remarkable 50-year journey, we also celebrate everyone who has been part of our own story. Thank you for helping make Neath Schools Rugby what it is today.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our trials on Tuesday and Thursday. We were extremely impressed by the effort, attitude, and quality shown by all players.

As you can appreciate, we have had to make some very difficult decisions due to the high number of players who attended. We would now like to invite the children named below to attend our final trial on

Friday 19th June at 4:30pm, Cwrt Herbert.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of players trialling, we are unable to provide individual feedback on this occasion. However, the door is certainly not closed. We regularly monitor players throughout the season and often look to add to the squad as the year progresses.

Thank you once again to every player and family for your time, commitment, and support. We wish all players the very best and look forward to seeing those invited at the final trial.

Last night we had the privilege of presenting our 2025/26 squad with their Neath Schools Rugby cap and playing jersey, a moment that marks their commitment, dedication and achievement in representing Neath Schools Rugby this season. 🖤🏉

While the rugby has been fantastic, this season has always been about so much more than what happens on the pitch.

Over the course of the year, we’ve watched these boys grow not only as rugby players, but as young men. They’ve developed confidence, resilience, respect and maturity. They’ve built friendships that will last a lifetime and created memories that they’ll never forget.

Together, they’ve represented themselves, their families, their clubs, their schools and the Neath district with pride. Every training session, every match, every bus journey, every tour and every challenge along the way has helped shape this special group.

As coaches, seeing their development off the field has been every bit as rewarding as the success they’ve achieved on it.

A huge thank you must also go to the parents, families, schools, sponsors and everyone who has supported the boys throughout the season. Your encouragement and commitment have played a massive part in making this journey possible.

The season may be over, but the friendships, experiences and memories will stay with these boys forever.
