More silverware is coming home after a scorching day in Norton Canes!

A huge well done to the lads. All 12 players dug deep, battled their way to the final, and found that extra push to get over the line when it mattered most.

Good afternoon all!

We are looking to strengthen our squad for the 26/27 season. U15s

All positions welcome, especially a goalkeeper, as our keeper of 8 years has been snapped up by a professional academy! 💙

We train in Biddulph on Thursday evenings, games on Sundays in the NSJYL.

So, if anyone is interested in joining us, playing division one football against some top quality teams, then get in touch and give it a go!

And just like that… 2026 has finally arrived (eventually)

If you looked up “cold and wet Sunday morning” in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of us playing football last weekend. First game back after what felt like the longest Christmas break known to mankind, and the weather clearly hadn’t missed us.

We started about as slowly as the ref, who rocked up a casual 20 minutes late 😵‍💫 Once we actually got going, though, we created some decent chances… just forgot to bring our shooting boots.

Just before half-time, the ref decided to spice things up by handing Blythe what we’ll politely call a very soft penalty. Justice was briefly served as they rattled the crossbar only for us to immediately undo all that good karma by gifting them a goal straight after. Football heritage. 1–0 down at the break.

The second half followed a familiar script: slow start, then suddenly we remembered how we play. From Dylan’s kick, Jayden’s header and one of Charlie’s trademark long throws, the ball eventually landed at Stanley’s feet who calmly slotted it home like he does it in his sleep. 1–1. Game on.

We pushed and pushed for a winner right until the final whistle, but the football gods weren’t having it. A draw in the end, and probably a fair result… even if it felt like it could’ve been more.

Players of the Match:
🏆 Charlie & Jaiden
Charlie caused problems all game with his footwork and topped it off with a lovely assist. Jaiden was an absolute brick wall at centre half dealt with everything, drove forward, and was inches away from nicking the winner at the death.

Parents’ Player:
🏆 Stan
An engine that just doesn’t stop. Non-stop running, tracking back, helping out everywhere and of course grabbing the goal. What more do you want? 😊

Special mention:
🧤 Big shout to Dylan for jumping in between the sticks once again while Sev was away on another footballing adventure.

All in all a little cold, wet and rusty… but the signs are there. On to the next one ⚽️

Cannons vs Leek CSOB – Mud & Graft
Cold, wet, and proper grassroots conditions 🥶 A tight, scrappy battle with no passengers. Cannons defended bravely, battled all over the pitch and created chances, but one second-half lapse proved costly. Sev was superb, pulling off multiple top saves and keeping us in it, while the back line stood firm for long spells. Plenty of positives to take despite the result.

🏅 Manager’s MOTM (Joint): Joe & Sev both superb in their roles, bravery and confidence from Joe and another firm steady performance from Sevin.
🏅 Spectators Player: Sev
Special mention to the kits that went home looking like they’d been excavated 🧼🏺

Cannons 1–0 Milton Utd – Last Game of 2025
Scrappy first half, lots of whistles, few chances 😅 Dylan did the business in goal while Sev was away on trial. Second half? Much better. Higher press, more confidence… then Dara unleashed an absolute rocket from 20+ yards 🚀⚽️ – top corner, no chance.
Not the prettiest, but full of grit and fully deserved 3 points to end the year 💪

Cannons 6–0 Blythe Bridge – Super Sunday Showdown. Absolute fireworks from the off 💥 Cannons blasting their way to a 6–0 demolition! Every pass sharp, every tackle solid, every player grafting like pros.

Top-of-the-Table Battle and a battle it was! Sev at the back, Dara and Dylan in midfield – the spine was rock solid. Chances galore for Fin, Stan, Dylan… even a “goal” ruled out by the mysterious absent VAR 👀 😜 Second half was end-to-end madness, big tackles, persistence all game. Kidsgrove frustrated, flying into challenges, but Sev wasn’t handing out gifts 🧤

🏆 MOTM (joint): Jaiden – won impossible tackles; Dara – dominated centre mid first game
🏆 Spectators MOTM: Jaiden fearless from the off. Shoutout to Sev for a well earned clean sheet.

Not the three points we wanted, but still 3rd in the table 💪

Cannons 5–2 Milton – Area Cup Swagger!Cannons came out firing 😎 Dylan opened the scoring, Stan added a second, and teamwork was just sublime 🙌 Milton managed a couple, but Cannons defence and midfield were glued together, every tackle and pass executed perfectly. Charlie knocked in the third, Dylan & Stan grabbed their braces, and the Cannons train couldn’t be stopped 🚂

MATCH RECAPS – OCTOBER ⚡️

Cannons vs Milton – Win 3–2
Early morning, but Cannons came out firing from the first whistle 💥 Relentless pressing, slick passing, and teamwork had the crowd buzzing. By halftime, goals from Charlie, Fin, and Dylan put us ahead 💪 Dara’s inch-perfect assist game was on point again, while Sev kept their shots out with safe hands 🧤
Second half, we eased off a bit… Milton clawed one back and then were gifted a peno ⚡ Scoreline looked tighter than the game actually was, but a win is a win!

🏅 Coaches’ MOTM: Charlie – workhorse of the game, capped off with a brilliant goal 👏
🏅 Spectators’ MOTM: Dylan – full of energy, skill, and determination, even after taking a high foot to the head ⚡

Cannons vs Cheadle – Draw 2–2
Frustrating one 😤 Slow start, conceded from our own corner… wake-up call! Charlie leveled brilliantly, then smashed a second straight into the top corner from Sevs’ goal kick 💥
Second half, chances galore but no luck. Cheadle equalised from a mix-up 😩 Harry pulled off a ridiculous goal-line header onto the post – heart rates through the roof!
Levi’s first match returning to the team, Miles debut match, Jude played very clever football, and this was the one where Stan who took a boot to the ankle but refused to stay off and played the rest of the game looking like he’d been put through a shredder 💪

🏅 Manager’s MOTM: Charlie – two class goals, relentless running 🔥
🏅 Spectators MOTM: Dylan – constant pain for defenders, full tilt all game ⚡

Friendly vs Macc Park Royals U15s – Win 3–1
Half-term free week? Not for Cannons! Took on a team a year older and twice the size 💪 Age didn’t matter Cannons came out firing 🔥
Goals, grit, and brilliant football all round. Park Royal’s weren’t expecting the game that they got but what a game it was.

Dara picked up Man of the Match for an outstanding performance 👏⚽️

Half Term also brought us our annual Fun Run🏃‍♂️💦 spoiler alert it wasn’t fun 🤣 Rain, mud, and monsoon-level conditions. The lads laced up and absolutely smashed it, raising funds for the team and showing why they never stop 💪🌧️⚽️

Stating off with our match recaps for September ⚡

Cannons 3–1 Newcastle
Heavy pitch, fluro pink kits, and serious stains.
We started a bit slow and Newcastle sneaked one past our keeper (he insists it was going wide 👀). That wake-up goal? Perfect. Cannons stepped it up with lovely football and pure determination, sealing it with a tidy third.

🏅 MOTM: Zac – relentless everywhere ⚡
🏅 Supporters MOTM: Dara – so fast defenders are still looking for him!

Cannons 5–2 Abbey Hulton
Goals, energy, and determination galore 💥
Slow start, Abbey Hulton punished early 🚶‍♂️💤 but once Cannons found their rhythm, the goals started flowing. Chances left, right, and centre – could easily have been more than five! Teamwork and high pressing were top class ⚽️

🏅 MOTM: Harry – captain’s display, grit, determination, and leadership 👏
🏅 Supporters MOTM: Stan – gave everything, battled non-stop, true warrior 💯
