I’ve been lying to myself the last couple weeks…

I took one small grain of truth and turned it into a full story I was telling myself about why I wasn’t doing certain things

However I conveniently ignored the fact that it was just one part of it, not the full story 😅 I was ignoring the actual reason behind it all

We’re all guilty of this, taking one valid reason - tired, too busy, ran out of time, whatever it for you - and letting it cover everything

Even though it’s only partially true 👀

So what story are you telling yourself right now? Is all of it true?

Make it more fun - bring in a reward ✨

It’s not about earning things, you can do whatever you want when you want

But pairing something you like/want with something you’re going to talk yourself out of, can be really helpful in just getting it done

Like today: once the admin begins, the iced coffee comes out 🧋

Of course this isn’t a fix for everything (eg avoiding a workout because you’re exhausted). But for the stuff you just need to get through? Genuinely works quite well!

A plan you understand is a plan you can trust 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

One of the things I do with clients when we introduce any new element to their plan, is explain *why* we’re doing it

Not because I need them to agree, but because a plan you understand is a plan you can trust and sustain 🤌🏽

& the clients who make the most consistent progress also ask more questions when they need/want to know more - because that’s what makes you want to stick with it

Because you can just blindly follow a plan for a while sure - but at some point when it feels slightly off, you go rogue…

Then you’re back to square one, wondering why it didn’t work

But when you understand what you’re doing and why, the things that feel counterintuitive start to make sense

It creates a completely different kind of trust with the process, it builds self awareness, it builds your knowledge 🧠

Every time you start over, you get a little hit of motivation, a bit of excitement… but boredom isn’t the same as a plateau

You’re not stuck, you’re just bored. There’s a difference

Check your progress before you ditch your plan, you’re probably making progress than you think 🫶🏽
