Monch 4110m - An amazing couple of alpine days with Vanessa Catherine Wright

We caught the ridiculously expensive but impressive Jungfrau train, which passes directly under Rotstock a peak we climbed last week & the next days target Monch.

A night in the Monchsjochhutte Hut with an alpine start & clear route made for a rewarding day in The Swiss alps 🏔️🇨🇭.

The perfect lunch spot ? 🥪 ⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Snapped this couple enjoying their butties on top of Crowberry Tower today.

A spare few hours in between jobs presented the opportunity for a quick scramble up Great Gully Buttress, the top end of North Buttress then down Curved Ridge to complete a great round of the classic scrambles of Buachaille Etive Mor 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️🥰.

The madness of Glen Coe tourist parking and driving brought me back down to earth with a good dose of road rage 😡 ………. What’s wrong with people ??

Munro bagging - 138 / 282 ⛰️- It’s been a few years since I’ve done anything more than 10 Munros in a year. This year I’ve done 11 🙄. At this rate I’ll be in my 70s when I complete them 🤦🏻‍♂️

They say it’s the journey not the destination that matters & The Munro journey matters to me, but in my own time 😊.

Work gets in the way , I’ve done a fair few 3-20 times !!. I don’t always bag a Munro when I have free time, choosing the best hill be that a Corbett or what my mates want do.

If this means it takes longer then so be it 😊 as it’s not what you do , it’s who with & where.

I added the last of The Drummochter hills to the list on a day off last week. Great views of Ben Alder & The Southern Highlands from Beinn Udlamain while also bagging Sgairneach Mhor ⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😊.

Affric Kintail Way - After a great night at the hostel we walked out through the Kintail Forrest, which has to be one of the steepest, highest & most stunning Glens in Scotland ⛰️⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We had great views of The Five Sisters of Kintail as well as the waterfalls of Grannda, before we finally got “Scottished” when the rain & midges welcomed us over the finish line 👏

Another great trail working for Thistle Trekking

Rock climbing improver course - Froggatt Edge with Mickey Howard .

We ventured onto the Slabs & cracks of Froggatt Edge for a different gritstone experience and style of climbing.

Smearing, jamming & laybacks were added to the repertoire and more lead climbing for Mickey 👌🏼👌🏼.

Two days of improved climbing skills from Mickey who’s now equipped for his bigger adventures 🙌🏻.

Rock climbing development course - Mickey Howard wanted to improve his climbings skills for bigger adventures in The Alps & Greater Ranges⛰️

This included complete climbing independence for when he is with guides & having his own adventures 👌

We put together a two day plan of single and Multipitch anchors, lead climbing, seconding harder routes, movement skills, finished off with some multi abseiling drills. All done in approach shoes to simulate the big mountain routes

A great day on Stanage Edge with a super psyched guy 💪🦸‍♂️.

Somewhere over the rainbow 🌈……..is lots of rain & wind 💨!!

Things started off promising Christina Wilson ‘s Glen Coe mountaineering day 🤞🏼. We climbed the Gearr Aonach Zig Zags in calm sunny weather with rainbows to accompany us en-route.

This soon turned sour on the North West ridge of Stob Coire nan Lochan as the inevitable wind, rain & clag descended on us 🫤.

A quick blast up the North West ridge of Bidean nam Bian while being blasted by 50 mph winds was enough to send us seeking shelter back in the Coire.

On the way down we found who had lost her way, so helped her down 😊

A typical Highlands heatwave day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️🌧️💨

Glen Coe - Curved Ridge with Christina Wilson

Christine is training for Mont Blanc & wanted to get some exposed high grade mountaineering under her belt ⛰️

What better place to train than Glen Coe’s atmospheric ridges 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👌.

We had a dry (ish) day on this fantastic 3 ⭐️ ridge, while also teaching alpine skills along the way, & we bagged a Munro 😊

A rain dodging day in North Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🌧️

Andrew Drummond wanted to try his hand at rock climbing,so we travelled to the only place without rain, the ever reliable Holyhead mountain for some 2-pitch routes.🧗

We then finished off in the sun with a mini mountaineering route on Peanman-Bach arête ⛰️👌
