The 30-second habit that protects every river we paddle 🌊

Check. Clean. Dry. Before every session and after every session, it takes 30 seconds and it's one of the most important habits in outdoor water sports. Invasive species and diseases can hitch a ride on wet kit between waterways, so we give every board a proper clean down with BioMate before it goes anywhere near the next river. Small habit, big impact for the rivers we all love paddling. 💙

★★★★★ 'The most exhilarating but also the safest time'

Half-day vertical caving with instructor Steve, and this review from Idris made our week 👇

"Amazing half day vertical caving experience with Steve, my brother and I had the most exhilarating but also safest time. Everything was explained fully, we were reassured and kept safe throughout, and Steve was easy to talk to and humorous which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Wendy was brilliant with the booking process, keeping us all up to date and organising everything despite the last minute request. Would highly recommend and will probably be back soon for more!"

This is exactly why we do what we do 🖤

Team Shelter Sheffield tackled the rapids this weekend 🌊

What a session! Shelter Sheffield brought a brilliant group down for a Mega SUP river trip on Sunday, taking on the rapids and drops together to raise money for their charity. Proper teamwork, a few soggy moments, and a lot of smiles by the end. Massive thanks to everyone who took part and helped raise money for such an important cause. If you fancy a Mega SUP day for your own team or fundraiser, we'd love to help you plan one.

That fallen tree isn't just in the way - it's a real river hazard 🌳⚠️

Most people know why trees come down after storms, but not everyone realises how dangerous they can be once they're in the water. A submerged trunk can trap kit, pin a paddler, or hide underwater until it's too late to spot. Left alone, they also build up debris and silt, changing the flow of the river and making it less predictable for everyone using it. So our team gets out there and clears them by hand whenever we can, not just for our own groups, but to keep the whole stretch safer and the water moving properly for every paddler who uses it. It's not glamorous, but it's a job that genuinely matters.

37 people abseiled 90ft down Millers Dale Viaduct for charity this weekend 💪

What a day at Millers Dale. 37 people took on an abseil to raise money for Our Space (Staffs), including several participants taking on the challenge with a range of disabilities. Huge respect to every single one of them. A special mention to Faye, a wheelchair user, who worked with our team ahead of the day so we could adapt the session and help her take part too. Well done to everyone who abseiled - brilliant effort all round. Our Space (Staffs) are now approaching £10,000 raised, supporting incredible work for their community. 🖤

Thinking about a challenge event for your group? Get in touch and we'll see what we can do to make it work.

August's Employee of the Month goes to... Ben! 🏆

From White Water SUP sessions to running climbing and abseiling days, Ben's had a proper August. The standout was a full week of back-to-back Mega SUP sessions with a scout group that ran like clockwork. Kit ready early, everything cleaned, tidied, checked and squared away at the end of each session, without fail. That kind of consistency across every activity is exactly why our groups keep going home buzzing. Massive thank you, Ben. Well deserved. 🙌

80 years old and staring down a 100ft drop. Meet Sandy. 🪢

She was terrified up there, properly and understandably terrified, and she did it anyway. That’s real courage. Sandy, you’re a legend! 👏

Huge congrats too to everyone who took on the QMC abseil today in aid of Nottingham Hospitals Charity. Nerves at the top, relief at the bottom, and you all smashed it! 💛

Can you spot yourself in the clip? Tag yourself below and share with your sponsors, you deserve all the credit for facing that ledge! 🙌

Thank you to Nottingham Hospitals Charity for having us.

This is what's under the Peak District right now ⬇️

Heatwave's gone, rain's moved in, but down here it doesn't matter either way. Half-day vertical caving trip running Saturday 5th September, ladders, pitches, headtorches and all. You're already wet and muddy underground, so a bit of rain outside won't ruin your day.

Our welly cupboard was basically an avalanche waiting to happen 😅
From an avalanche of wellies to an actual, functioning system. Huge thanks to Paul, instructor by day, carpenter by... also day, for building us this rack. Absolute legend and our storage problems are officially solved 🥾🙌
Little upgrades like this mean less digging around and more time getting out on the hill with you lot.
