One of our largest projects to date was this huge two floor extreme altitude and environmental chamber at the Nad el Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai. And it was a pretty extreme environment already, with outside temperatures hitting 45 degrees!

Used as a training camp by elite athletes and premiership football clubs, the entire complex includes an athletics track, football pitches, gym, indoor courts and a diving pool.

No packing. No flights. No jet lag. Just pure, high-altitude performance right from your own space.

If you’re looking to unlock the benefits of hypoxic training - like boosted VO2 max, enhanced endurance, and faster recovery - the Cloud9 System offers elite-level mountain training without leaving home.

Zero travel required: Skip the airport, expensive hotel bookings, and disrupted routines.

Seamless integration: Train at simulated altitude, then continue with your normal day. Fits perfectly around work and family life.

Total control: No unpredictable mountain weather. Just a precise, controlled hypoxic environment tailored to your exact training goals.

Consistency is the real secret to athletic breakthroughs. By removing the friction of travel, Cloud9 lets you accumulate altitude hours effortlessly week after week.

Want the benefits of altitude training without travelling to the mountains?

The Live Low, Train High (LLTH) method lets you live your normal life at sea level but perform specific workouts in a low-oxygen (hypoxic) environment. It improves your muscles’ efficiency at using oxygen and tolerating fatigue.

There are two very different ways to do it. Here is the breakdown so you can choose the right one for your sport:

1. IHT (Intermittent Hypoxic Training)

What it is: Controlled, sub-maximal intervals (70%+ max heart rate) at moderate simulated altitudes (2,000–3,000m).

The Goal: Build your aerobic engine. It forces your body to become highly efficient with the oxygen it does have, boosting VO₂ max and endurance.

Best for: Endurance athletes (runners, cyclists, triathletes, rowers, cross-country skiers) who need to sustain power over long periods.

In short: It helps you push harder for longer.

2. RSH (Repeated Sprint Training in Hypoxia)

What it is: All-out, maximal sprints (

If you’ve hit a plateau, the only way is up. Altitude training could be the new stimulus you need to push harder and get even stronger.

The Cloud9 altitude simulator safely replicates oxygen levels at 2,700m–4,000m and offers all the benefits, without the travel. And you don’t have to wait months to see the payoff.

With just 2 to 3 short sessions per week (we're talking 25–60 minutes), you can see measurable performance gains in as little as 4 weeks.

By introducing a controlled hypoxic stimulus, your body is forced to adapt, increasing red blood cell production, improving oxygen efficiency, and boosting endurance. The result? A huge performance advantage when you return to normoxia (sea-level oxygen conditions).

Huge congratulations to Dr Shaunna Burke on her successful second summit of Everest! At 3am on 23rd May, Shaunna became the first woman with stage 4 cancer to stand on top of the world’s highest peak.

Determined not to let a cancer diagnosis stop her living her life, Shaunna inspires hope in other cancer patients, demonstrating what is possible with incredible mental strength.

We’re proud to have helped her on her journey, alongside Dr Barney Wainwright and Leeds Beckett University, preparing her body for the huge challenge of climbing at altitude.

So far, she’s raised over £30,000 for so let’s help her reach her £50k target! Donate here: https://givestar.io/gs/dying-to-climb-shaunna-burkes-return-to-everest

The Cloud9 is a super versatile altitude training tool. No matter how you choose to move, it fits seamlessly into your existing routine:

🏃‍♂️ Treadmill & cross trainer: Level up your interval sessions with hypoxic training to see pacing and endurance improvements in just a few weeks.

🚴 Indoor bike: Level up your Zwift or Wattbike sessions. Just 2–3 short Cloud9 sessions a week can smash through fitness plateaus and spike your functional threshold power (FTP).

🚣 Rowing machine: Rowing is already a great, full-body workout. Adding hypoxic air just takes it to a whole new level, making your body work harder and forcing physiological adaptations that can’t be achieved in any other way.

🧗 Stairmaster: Replicate actual mountaineering conditions. Perfect for high-altitude expedition prep or building bulletproof leg strength and endurance.

🏋️ Resistance & weight training: Yes, weight training! Performing free weights or resistance work under simulated altitude places a massive metabolic stress on your muscles, accelerating strength adaptations and lean muscle toning without needing to overload your joints with heavier weights.

Whether you are aiming for peak athletic performance, accelerating weight loss, or maintaining your engine while rehabbing an injury with low-impact tools, Cloud9 delivers. It’s compact, incredibly easy to set up, and safe.

Work smarter, not just harder. It’s time to train above the clouds. ☁️💪

Intermittent Hypoxic Training (IHT) is the perfect way to work your cardiovascular system, while minimising the mechanical load on your body. It transforms low intensity exercise into a high intensity workout for your heart.

By simulating high-altitude conditions at sea level, your body is forced to adapt to a lower-oxygen environment.

Here is why it’s great for injured athletes and older adults:

Zero impact, maximum cardio: You can sit on a stationary bike, spin the pedals under low resistance, and still get your heart rate and aerobic systems working like you’re sprinting up a mountain.

Maintain performance while injured: When structural injuries (like stress fractures or tendonitis) keep you off the track or pitch, the Cloud9 system ensures your VO2 max and metabolic fitness don’t slide backwards while you heal.

Saves the joints: For older fitness enthusiasts, high-intensity intervals on a treadmill can be brutal on knees and hips. IHT gives you the profound cellular and cardiovascular benefits of a grueling HIIT session at a fraction of the physical strain.

It’s not about training harder—it’s about training smarter. Bring the mountains to your recovery protocol and keep your fitness soaring, no matter what your joints have to say about it.

Over the winter, the Sporting Edge team wrapped up a massive, state-of-the-art altitude installation for Team Denmark, designed to optimise elite athlete training and recovery.

When you need athletes to get 10+ hours of altitude exposure a day, comfort and mental well-being are just as important as the science. That’s why we designed a 6-bedroom setup connected by a communal altitude lounge—giving athletes the freedom to socialise, relax, and log their hours together.

Behind the walls, we integrated the altitude tech directly with the hotel’s AC system. It’s a complex bit of engineering controlled seamlessly from reception, while still giving athletes individual temperature control.

We’re pretty sure this is a European—if not global—first for this level of integration.
