Progress that goes beyond the nets

Most cricketers I see with knee pain are actually suffering from a "tightness bottleneck" in their calves.

The Tool: Dry needling to reset the muscles.

📍The Target: We’re hitting the outer gastroc, soleus, IT band, and hamstrings.

As you can see, Mickey is absolutely loving it (mostly). 😂

If you’ve got tight calves and "bad knees," you need to stop just rubbing the sore spot and start treating the system.

Just make sure you find a qualified pro to do it!

I’m seeing a lot of cricketers lately coming to me with lower back pain, and the assumption is always the same: "It must be the cricket!" 🏏

Cricket often just becomes the victim and takes the blame for things it didn't even do.

The Lifestyle Factor:
• The Commute: Most young cricketers are spending hours upon hours every day traveling to and from practice. 🚗
• The Stiff System: Think about how achy and stiff you feel the second you step out of the car. 😫
• The Grumpy Back: By the time you start playing your back is already "grumpy" before you’ve even bowled a ball. 😠

It’s not necessarily the sport—it’s the lifestyle factors that contribute more to the pain. If you don't fix the lifestyle, the back rehab won’t stick! 🚫

Cricketers need to master rotational power. It’s the hidden force behind every ball bowled and every six.

We’re officially installing our new throwing wall at the facility today to help you train exactly that.

The first tests are in, and it’s solid—it actually works! :-)

I’m excited to get people in here to slam some balls against this and really improve their game.

It’s one step at a time, but the vision is coming together.

Are you stuck in "Paralysis by Analysis"? Most cricketers spend so much time obsessing over every minor detail of their technique that they actually forget how to play the game.

We’re fixing that. We’ve just launched a brand new show on YouTube: Technique Tuesday.

In every episode, I’ll be:

Analyzing cricketers of all ages and abilities. It showcases exactly what I look for when I first start working with a player. Identifying the one thing I would fix first to get the biggest results.

Stop overthinking and start improving. Head over to YouTube and subscribe to to catch the first episodes. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Most fast bowlers I see in the clinic complain about super-tight quads. If we don’t address it, that tightness eventually leads to the treatment table instead of the bowling crease.

The Fix: Dynamic Cupping. We don’t just leave the cups sitting there. We use dynamic movement to:

- Promote massive blood flow to the muscles
- Flush out waste products from a long day in the dirt
-Improve the "sliding" between your tissues and fascia

Take Wil here—he’s a fast bowler growing really quickly, and we need to make sure his body can handle that pace. 🚀

Batting doesn’t start with technique. It starts with seeing the ball.

A few years ago, I realised I simply couldn't see the ball clearly from the boundary or while batting. Even after laser surgery, the bottleneck was still there until I got contact lenses.

We use a simple "noughts and crosses" game with underarm feeds to test a player’s perception of length. As you can see with Andy, if you can’t judge the ball early, your technique becomes irrelevant.

If you're struggling with timing, get your eyes tested first.

🏏 Are you struggling to make a technical change stick?

Before we look at the video, we screen for one thing: Pain.

Pain is the silent killer of good technique. Even something as small as an ingrown toenail can cause your body to protect itself, leading to a massive technical flaw like a collapsing back foot.

If your body is in "protection mode," your technique will never be consistent. Stop chasing the action and start fixing the pain.

Are you struggling with tennis or golfer's elbow? Most people assume the elbow is the problem, but in the Cricket Matters system, we look upstream.

Take Ali he’s a coach who has been slinging for years and is dealing with a grumpy elbow. Instead of just treating the pain, we’re addressing the problem:

The Diaphragm: We use cupping to restore breathing mechanics.
The Trunk: Better breathing leads to better trunk stability.
The Result: When the trunk is stable, it releases the load on the elbow so it can finally heal.

Stop chasing the pain and start fixing the system. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The next step is DONE. The TV and analysis suite is officially up and running at Cricket Matters.

We’re not just watching replays; we’re using "High Science" to bridge the gap between your Body and your Technique. On a 75-inch 4K screen, there’s no hiding—we can see every frame and every detail.

As I always say: we don't know what we don't know, and we certainly can't fix what we can't see.

The suite is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes looks at how we're building Wales' premier cricket performance hub.

We’ve finally started knocking down the wall into the gym, and I’ve got to tell you—it’s mad how big this room feels already!

It’s always hard to picture it when the walls are up, but once they come down, everything changes. This is all about creating more space to help you get Better Every Ball.
