ABERCARN RFC 12
YNSYDDU RFC 9

We kicked off the season at home against Ynsyddu, and we always knew this was going to be a tough one. Ynsyddu have been a strong side over the last few years and were coming down from the Championship, so we knew exactly what kind of challenge was ahead.

The first half proved just that, with Ynsyddu taking a 9–0 lead into the break.

But the second half was a completely different story. The boys' fitness started to show, along with the incredible team spirit and togetherness that we saw so much of last season.

Two tries from Dan Greenway and Mason Parfitt turned the game around and put Abercarn 12–9 ahead with 20 minutes remaining.

A few yellow cards for both sides made for a nervy final 10 minutes, but the boys dug deep and held on for a fantastic opening-day victory.

There were some notable performances from Dan Greenway, Kaine Davies and Morgan Thomas, along with some great impact from the bench.

But there were two standout performances yesterday from Harrison Parsons and Sam Llewellyn, with Sam taking home Man of the Match and fully deserved.

A brilliant start to life in Division One. The hard work continues. 🖤💚
