Did you know the Victoria Pickleball Centre is home to the Victoria Orcas, our professional pickleball team?

The Orcas train twice a week at the centre as they prepare to compete against some of the best players and teams in Canada.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors, who help make the season possible and allow our athletes to focus more on competing and less on the costs associated with high-level tournament play.

JOOLA Pickleball Canada provided paddles and bags for the players.
Mizuno Canada Ltd. supplied court shoes for the team.
Crystal Andresen helped cover team jerseys, tournament entry fees, and travel expenses.

Player Highlight!

Meet Carol.

Carol’s fun energy is a pleasure to be around. If you walk into the facility and hear laughter from across the courts, it’s probably her.

We once saw Carol burst into laughter during a gold medal match because she was completely bewildered by how long the rally was lasting 😂

We’re lucky to have people like Carol in the VPC community 👏

Tournament Date Change!

To help better align with the Island tournament calendar and create the best possible experience for players, we’ve adjusted the tournament dates.

NEW DATES: August 14th–16th
Registration Opens: June 29th

Huge shoutout to all the Vancouver Island players who brought home medals this weekend at the Kamloops Open! 🏅

Way to represent the island pickleball community with pride. We love seeing our local players competing hard, supporting each other, and making noise on the tournament scene!

Congratulations to everyone who went out and competed!

VPC’s pro team, The Victoria Orcas, headed out to the Kamloops Open 2026. Three of our players were brave enough to take on singles… all three came home with gold medals 🥇

🥇 — Gold in Women’s 5.0 Singles
🥇 — Gold in Women’s 4.0–4.99 Singles
🥇 — Gold in Men’s 4.5 Singles

Grace also came home with a silver medal in Women’s 5.0 Doubles🥈

We are so proud of the entire team for representing the Orcas and Victoria Pickleball Centre so well in Kamloops!

Huge thanks to for contributing $250 toward prizes for our King of the Court 3.25-3.75 events!

We had an awesome turnout and loved seeing both familiar and new faces out on the courts.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a fun event!

How many of these would you confidently call OUT in a real game?

The “clear space” standard is one of the most misunderstood rules in pickleball. A ball is only OUT if you can clearly see space between the ball and the line at contact. Different angles can completely change what players think they see.

If you’re not 100% sure… the ball is IN.
