No one can determine what was or was not âtraumaticâ for you.
Trauma is not defined by âthe eventâ,
It is defined
by your own nervous system response to any given stressor. That is why itâs important to remember trauma is not just something thatâs happened to you, itâs also something that has not happened to you. For example, the absence of compassion, the lack of safety or support in any given moment can feel like death to some.
Things like silent treatment and neglect are traumatic experiences leading many to experience deep emotional overwhelm. It is therefore important to understand that nervous system capacity and response to stress is very individual, itâs deeply personal and itâs extremely nuanced.
The electromagnetic impact of our lived experiences remain alive in us long after the moment has past. That energetic memory continues to inform our cells and soul of what is potentially going to overload our nervous system again. That is why we must offer all people empathy and emotional safety without dismissing, denying or discrediting their reality.
Repairing the nervous system after an energetic injury requires a deep reinstatement of the felt sense of love and safety. It not easy to recover.
But with the right people around you and the consistent practice of shifting our associations we can repair the circuitry.
