Fixed seat rowing vs. slide seat sculling, what’s the difference? 🚣

As Whitehall Rowing & Sail CEO and Co-Founder Harold Aune explains, a sliding seat brings your legs into the rowing stroke, allowing you to use the power of your whole body rather than relying primarily on your upper body.

It creates a longer, more powerful and efficient stroke and a fantastic full-body, low-impact workout.

Harold has spent a lifetime designing and rowing boats, and in his experience, once people discover slide seat sculling, they rarely want to go back to a fixed seat.

Colin’s off again! 🚚

Our September delivery run has officially left Victoria, BC, with Colin behind the wheel and a truckload of Whitehall Spirit® rowboats on their way to their new owners.

This trip will take Colin across North America, with deliveries in Ontario, Wisconsin, Maine, Florida, Nevada and California along the way.

It’s our penultimate delivery run of 2026, with just one final U.S. wide trip scheduled for October.

📍 Boston & the East Coast USA: We’ll also be heading to Boston for the Head of the Charles Regatta next month. If you’re in the Boston area and have been considering a Whitehall Spirit® rowboat, get in touch as we can offer special delivery pricing while we’re in the area.

And as Harold explains in the video, several of our suppliers have notified us of upcoming material cost increases. Unfortunately, that means our prices will be increasing in 2027.
