VVCA is a community group in the Saskatoon neighbourhoods of Grosvenor Park and Varsity View. The Association works to meet the needs of all residents.

The Varsity View Community Association is a vibrant, volunteer-driven group that is always happy to welcome new members. Located near the University of Saskatchewan and encompassing the neighbourhood of Grosvenor Park, the area’s population includes seniors, growing families, and university students. It organizes events, delivers recreational and leisure programs, coordinates sports programs for children/youth and maintains the outdoor rink at Brunskill School.

City of Saskatoon — Construction Notice

WHAT: Back Lane Tree Maintenance
WHEN: November 5, 2026
WHERE: Back lane between Wiggins Avenue North and Bottomley Avenue North from 1302/1342 Elliott Street to 1339/1301 Osler Street

Each spring, the City of Saskatoon (City) rates the condition of all gravel back lanes to determine the level of maintenance required. This block was identified for Back Lane Tree maintenance to allow unobstructed access to the back lane by large vehicles such as waste collections trucks and maintenance vehicles. The work may take approximately 2 days to complete, weather permitting.

During this project
•Grants Tree Service has been contracted to trim trees overhanging into or within the back lane. Overhanging and overgrown trees prevent the gravel in the back lane from drying, which contributes to its deterioration. Some branches will also be trimmed to allow access for maintenance equipment, and plant material in the lane along the right of way may also be removed as required for building a proper grade in the lane.
•Work may include pruning and/or removal of private property trees that hang over the back lane right of way and that are below 4.5 meters in height.

As your ghosts and goblins return home from a night of trick-or-treating, inspect their haul for open, damaged, or tampered with packaging and discard anything questionable before allowing them to dig in. Other trick-or-treating tips to consider for a safe evening include;

👻 Having a planned route and return time,

👻 Going in groups, and

👻 Using sidewalks and crosswalks where available.

Whether you’re heading out to trick-or-treat or getting behind the wheel, a few simple steps can help everyone get home safely.

The scariest thing this Halloween isn’t the ghosts and ghouls, its not being safe. 🎃

Whether you’re heading out to trick-or-treat or getting behind the wheel, a few simple steps can help everyone get home safely.

Drivers:
- Slow down
- Wear your seatbelt
- Stay focused behind the wheel, including not driving impaired or distracted
- Take extra time at crosswalks, stop signs, and traffic lights

Trick-or-treaters, remember to:
- Be visible! Wear reflective tape on your costume or carry a flashlight
- Make sure your costume is scary and safe. Wear well-fitting masks, costumers, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, tripping, and falls
- Use the buddy system! Travel in groups of four or more. Young children should be accompanied by an adult
- Plan your route. Make sure you stay in well-lit areas. Always walk on the sidewalk and use crosswalks to cross the street
- Check your loot. An adult should sort and check candy for tampering, allergies, and expiration dates
