A very sad day for all SCRL rowers
We will all miss Bob
Peace and Love Bob Loveman, Family, Friends and to all those Bob coached
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Loveman who was a proud partner, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Reunion Masonic Lodge #103, teacher to hundreds, a coach to many and friend to all. Bob passed peacefully at home early Friday morning joining his fur baby Leonard.
He leaves behind his long-time partner, Sheila Tryhorn, his children and grandchildren: Colin (Tracy Smith) Mason, Carter, Sadie; Alison (Jeff Bradley) Kalen, Sami and Erin (Kyle Devan) Bode and Lola.
Bob was born to Samuel and Lily Loveman in Falkirk, Scotland on June 17th 1947. He attended St. Catharines Collegiate followed by McMaster University and later Niagara University for his Master of teaching. Bob spent the entirety of his teaching career within the DSBN. After retirement Bob continued his teaching in South Korea.
His year abroad ignited his love of travel and led him to Europe. There he very proudly completed the Frances and Portuguese Camino with Sheila by his side. When not cruising around the world Bob spent his time between home and Florida. Flying south for the winter like his mother and father before him.
He was a decorated athlete and sports enthusiast receiving many accolades in both rowing and soccer throughout the years. When older, Bob enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience through coaching both sports at all levels of competition.
His trivia career was not met with as much success as his other endeavors, but he loved it all the same. Participating whenever and wherever he could. He was an avid supporter and fan of the Bills, Jay's and Manchester United. He and Sheila were even able to attend a match at Old Trafford stadium before his passing.
He was a pillar of the community, deeply loved and will be truly missed. Until we meet again Bob. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal recuse organization.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Friday, February 13 at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1-5 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Club Belvedere, 57 John Street, Thorold.
