Tomorrow is the day we will be honouring lieutenant Michael Murphy!! Make your partition plan today and be ready for the long grind.

Remember this isn’t about beating times or even finishing. it’s about picking an option that is challenging for you then holding the line while pushing through something difficult. We will together come out the other end honouring a man that made extreme sacrifices for his unit and country.

A big thanks to these 4 judges that never come to 6am classes or even come that much to any a.m classes. and Andrew Faubert.

Thank you all so much for showing up for all the morning classes over the 3 weeks to judge others competing and also finding the energy to compete yourselves. Without your commitment this year we would’ve never had the number of judges we needed in our a.m classes.

I also want to thank all of our other judges that took the course and helped out wherever they could it was a massive help.

Gavin & Saphire’s PowTown ThrowDown was a huge success. We raised $8572.00

A huge thanks to for hosting our margarita and taco wrap up event. Thank you to our volunteer servers .charlton who made this evening wonderful by donating their time serving 60 of us.

A big thank you to for putting in a ton of work to help organize each piece of this fundraiser. They both played a huge roll in its success.

Thanks to all that came out and showed their support by doing workout, buying and helping selling raffle tickets and buying a taco margarita ticket to iguanas.

Powtown Open Team Captain Bio!

Hi everyone! My name is Gillian/Gilly (she/hers). Fun facts about me: I used to be a competitive powerlifter, I’ve been living in qathet for 3ish years and I’ve met Sylvester Stallone in an L.A. airport (he smelled very good). I’ve been CF/CF adjacent programming since 2018.

What movements are you hoping will be in the Open?

Max Rest intervals preferably lying down 😜 and squats/squat cleans

How do you deal with pre-Open workout nerves?

Downing a family sized bay of all dressed chips or ketchup chips really takes the edge off.

What’s your favourite thing about the open?

Seeing global participation.

What advice do you have for someone doing their first Open?

Lift yourself up during the workout by saying positive words. You got this, just breathe, you’re doing great. Your mindset really plays a huge role in what can be seen as perhaps a gruelling workout. Be your own cheerleader!

Powtown Open Team Captain Bio!

I’m Rick, I started coming to Powtown about 2 years ago thanks to some relentless encouragement from a friend. Now I’m the friend relentlessly encouraging others to try it out! Sports or going to the gym were never things I was committed to in the past, but Eddie had me hooked after my first class at Powtown. Aside from CrossFit I’m usually salmon fishing, or thinking about it, with my fiancée Sydney.

What movement are you hoping will be in the Open?

Anything hanging or upside down. And no thrusters!!!!

How do you deal with pre-Open workout nerves?

I think I take on a mindset of curiosity leading up to the countdown. I want to see what I can get myself to do, and I try to lean into that. Don’t worry about what everyone else is up to.

What’s your favourite thing about the Open?

My favourite part is seeing all the encouragement everyone has for each other. It’s a great group of people and they are what makes the open fun. Powtown shines during the open.

What advice do you have for someone doing their first Open?

I would say to really give it everything you’ve got, there isn’t a better time for it. You know when you’ve left nothing on the table, and it’s a good feeling. Do it for you!

Powtown Open Team Captain Bio!

Johnny Vanderkemp, Hockey player from 6 years old, converted to a soccer coach. I started CrossFit sept 2019 , my wife convinced me to try CrossFit and i was hooked after the first workout.

What movement are you hoping will be in the Open?

Not hoping for any specific movement, I like the surprise of the workout announcement, no handstand push ups and last years chest to bar beat me.

How do you deal with pre-Open workout nerves?

I like nervousness, I think it makes you perform better. The first year I was really nervous but the next year I just treated it like any other workout.

What’s your favourite thing about the Open?

The competition, not so much with other athletes as yourself , the gym coming together.

What advice do you have for someone doing their first Open?

It’s all about having fun, treat it like another workout, use your nerves to your advantage.
