Tankard Talk – Day 10 – Team Colter
Team Colter, representing Curl Moncton, enters the 2026 NB Tankard as one of the most ambitious squads in the field. They’re fast, focused, and full of personality — the kind of team that turns heads both for how they play and how they carry themselves.
Skip, Travis Colter brings a calm, steady leadership style shaped by years in the tough Nova Scotia curling circuit. He reached his biggest milestone in 2019, representing Team Nova Scotia at the Tim Hortons Brier — experience that shows in his composed decision‑making and strategic confidence. Now competing out of New Brunswick, Colter enters this season ready to bring that Brier‑tested poise to a new province and guide his team through every big moment
Mate, Jack Smeltzer brings a calm, grounding presence to the team — the kind of player who seems to slow the whole sheet down just by stepping into the hack. He reads the ice with quiet confidence, never rushed, never rattled, and always thinking one shot ahead.. After losing a tooth recently, his sweep calls picked up a bit of character, and now his unmistakable “thweep thweep!” will become a fan favorite and a team rallying cry.
Second, Alex Peasley is the team’s athletic spark plug — strong, energetic, and always moving — but his greatest mystery isn’t his sweeping power or his gym routine. It’s what he actually does during his frequent mid‑game disappearances. In a 10‑end match, he’s good for at least five-bathroom breaks, and the team is still debating whether he’s heading off to p*e or sneaking away to make sure his hair is still in perfect, camera‑ready shape. Either way, he comes back looking focused, refreshed, and slightly too flawless for someone in the middle of a curling game — classic Alex.
Lead, Michael Donovan is the team’s quiet weapon—steady, precise, and incredibly effective. His early stones shape the strategy for every end, giving Team Colter the structure and confidence to play their ideal game. With calm consistency and a deep feel for the ice, he provides the reliable foundation that every top team depends on. Michael doesn’t need flash; his influence comes from doing the right things, the right way, every time.
Mitchell small brings depth, versatility, and unwavering composure to the lineup. Always prepared and fully engaged, he’s ready to step into any position without disrupting rhythm or momentum. His adaptability and team‑first mindset make him the kind of alternate every competitive team wants: dependable, flexible, and instantly impactful. Whether on the ice or supporting from the bench, Mitchell strengthens the team in all the ways that matter.
Team Colter is a rising powerhouse — a serious contender built on talent, athleticism, and fearless youthful fire. This team isn’t just fun to watch — they’re built to win.
