The Moncton Junior Vito’s Hockey Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Shaddick as General Manager and Dean Young as Head Coach for the Junior Vito’s for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Mark Shaddick (General Manager) - hails from Miramichi NB, growing up he played in the AAA system from U13 through to U18. In the Fall of 1995 Mark was a Member of Team New Brunswick at the Atlantic Challenge Cup. During the 1996-97 season he was a member of the Miramichi Major Midget AAA New Brunswick champions that participated in the Atlantic Regional tournament leading to the “Air Canada Cup” (now Telus Cup). He was named “Most Dedicated” of that team. The following season, he played for Miramichi Valley High School where was named the Hockey Teams MVP and the schools ‘Male Athlete of The Year’.
After graduation he played seven years of Senior Hockey with teams in the region, including his first year where with the Renous Sky-Tec Whoopers he was awarded the “Fan Favorite”. After his playing days he coached from Novice to U15 in the Riverview Minor Hockey Club. Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Jr Vito’s Hockey Club. Mark is also currently the General Manager of the Moncton Metropolitans Senior Baseball team.
Originaire de Miramichi NB, il a évolué dans le système AAA de U13 à U18. À l’automne 1995, Mark a été membre de l’équipe du Nouveau-Brunswick à la Coupe Défi de l’Atlantique. Lors de la saison 1996-97, il a fait partie des champions du Nouveau-Brunswick des ‘Miramichi Major Midget AAA qui ont participé au tournoi régional de l’Atlantique qui menant à la « Coupe Air Canada » (aujourd’hui Coupe Telus). Il a été nommé « Le plus dévoué » de cette équipe. La saison prochaine, il a joué pour le l’école secondaire de Miramichi Valley où il a été nommé joueur le plus utile de l’équipe de hockey et athlète masculin de l’année de l’école.
Après l’obtention de son diplôme, il a joué sept ans au hockey senior avec des équipes de la région, dont sa première année avec les Renous Sky-Tec Whoopers, il a été élu « Fan Favorite ». Après sa carrière de joueur, il été entraîneur pour les niveaux de novice à moins15 ans dans le Club de hockey mineur de Riverview. Mark apporte une grande connaissance et expérience au Club de Hockey Jr Vito’s. Mark est également le directeur général de l’équipe senior de baseball les Métropolitains de Moncton.
Dean Young (Head Coach)- grew up in Northern NB, played minor hockey in Charlo, then transitioned to AAA in Dalhousie playing with the Restigouche Red Wings. Dean then played high school for the DRHS Condors, and after graduation moved to Moncton to attend school, played a short stint of Junior with a start up team in Dalhousie travelling from Moncton.
He has played in various leagues in Moncton and played a year of senior in Dalhousie for the Rangers travelling from Moncton as well. After starting a family, Dean switched from playing hockey to coaching, starting as assistant coach in Riverview at U13 AA level winning a tournament banner, then went on to assistant coach to U15AA also winning another banner. He took over as head coach in the second year and won another Provincial banner.
He then transitioned to U16AAA as assistant coach with the Moncton thunderbirds, winning 2 provincial titles and losing this year in the NB provincial finals. Dean still serves on the board for the Moncton U16AAA Thunderbirds.
Dean a grandi dans le nord du Nouveau-Brunswick, a joué au hockey mineur à Charlo, puis est passé en AAA à Dalhousie avec les Restigouche Red Wings. Dean a ensuite joué au lycée pour les DRHS Condors, puis, après l’obtention de son diplôme, a déménagé à Moncton pour étudier, où il a joué un court passage en Junior avec une équipe start-up à Dalhousie, venant de Moncton.
Il a joué dans diverses ligues à Moncton et a également joué une année senior à Dalhousie pour les Rangers, en voyage depuis Moncton. Après avoir fondé une famille, Dean est passé du hockey à l’entraînement, débutant comme entraîneur adjoint à Riverview au niveau U13 AA, remportant une bannière de tournoi, puis est devenu entraîneur adjoint de l’équipe U15AA, remportant également une autre bannière. Il a pris la relève en tant qu’entraîneur principal lors de sa deuxième année et a remporté une autre bannière provinciale.
Il est ensuite passé au niveau U16AAA comme entraîneur adjoint des Thunderbirds de Moncton, remportant 2 titres provinciaux et perdant cette année en finale provinciale NB. Dean siège toujours au conseil d’administration des Moncton U16AAA Thunderbirds.
