It was…a day on Saturday. Maybe not the finest weather for archery, but we did it. A 1440 and a 720 concurrently, a break for a thunderstorm, and some serious rain. But it was a good day.

Current Events 2026 Outdoor Registered 1440 MRAC has decided to run a 1440 round at the same time as one of our 720s, on August 22nd. We are extending the field to allow the max shooting distance of 90 meters. What is a 1440? The format of this event is to shoot at 4 seperate distances: U21 and 21+....

A reminder, that if you’re going to come to our 1440 shoot on August 22nd, and want to see what 90 meters is like to shoot, and to set up your sights/aim, our field at Selvey Park will be open in the morning, this Saturday, August 8th, from 9 until about 11:30, with at least one 90 meter butt set up. No charge to shoot that day, just need to be a member of BC Archery.

Maple Ridge Archery is running a 1440 tournament on August 22nd, concurrent with our already scheduled 720.

The format of this event is to shoot at 4 separate distances:

U21 and 21+ Men: 90 meters, 70 meters, 50 meters, 30 meters.
U18 and 50+ Women: 60/50/40/30
U18/50+ Men, U21/21+ Women 70/60/50/30
6 ends of 6 arrows are shot at each distance

Target faces are 122cm at the two longer distances, 80 cm at the shorter distances. For 80 cm targets, recurve and compound shoot a 6 ring, barebow is full size.

Also note, that if you’re interested in a little practice/getting your sights set at 90 meters, we’ll have a 90 meter target set up on the morning of Saturday, August 8th, at Selvey Park, from 9 to 11:30 or so. No cost to come out and try it out.

We invited Starr Archery to come to an outdoor shoot and hot dog bbq at Selvey last night. Great turnout and fun shoot. I’ve never seen that many people at the field. Thanks to Linda and Darcy for organizing their folks, thanks to Laura and Laura for organizing the food on our side, and to Susan for helping with cooking and serving. A huge thanks to everyone who helped with setup and tear down. 12 butts full of everyone from beginners to national level shooters.
