Monte Lake Outdoor Life Club

Monte Lake Outdoor Life Club MLOLC is a Registered Society that operates and maintains a local Gun Range in Westwold BC. Sign-in books are on the table at the entrance inside the Clubhouse.

GENERAL CLUB RULES
All members and guests MUST sign in and out at the Range. A copy of the General Rules is posted on the bulletin board inside the Clubhouse as well.

*CLUBHOUSE FLAGS; MUST be raised as soon as possible upon entering the site to show what is going on. These are stored at the Range in the Clubhouse. Raise the appropriate flag on the flagpole near the parking lot. RED – Range is o

pen, in use, shooting is going on. GREEN – Range is closed, safe to enter.
*RANGE FLAGS; Flags are stored at the Range in the Clubhouse. Mounted the appropriate flag at the shooting bench area. RED – Range is hot, shooting and handling of fi****ms is allowed. GREEN – Range is safe, all fi****ms are off the bench during this time with actions open. No handling of fi****ms while target setters are downrange.
*Unless the Range Officer is present, the first person on the range will assume the duty unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Obey the Range Officer’s commands.
*If working at this property, be sure to post signage and ribbon off Range, Bench Area, and put-up proper flags. Be sure others are aware you are there!
*Ear and eye protection must be worn by all persons during active shooting.

 All fi****ms must be encased or pointed in a safe direction with actions open when entering the Range.
 Firearm permits, licenses, and identification must be shown on request.
 Only single shot loading for rifles (unless the competition calls for more
(e.g., Sporting clays)).
 5 shot loading for pistols.
 On ceasefire, weapons must be unloaded, have the action open and muzzle pointed in a safe direction, or placed in a gun rack. Range shooters stand clear of weapons.
 No loaded pistols in holsters.
 Only on the order of Range Master may targets be changed or retrieved.
 Children under 16 must be supervised.
 Always follow your ACTS and PROVE (Refer to page 3)
 No firearm may be handled during a ceasefire.
 The shooter must open the action or encase firearm when leaving the range.
 Muzzleloading fi****ms must be used together at a safe distance from other pistol or rifle shooters. Precaution must be taken, i.e., no smoking or open flame, no uncovered powder containers, etc. Retrieve dropped cap immediately.

 All shooting in rifle range is restricted to the designated target area.
 Use proper size paper targets to avoid damage to target stands.
 The shooting of any wildlife is prohibited on this property.
 A membership card must be presented upon request.
 Local guests, one visit, one time only. Out-of-town guests are okay. You are responsible for their safety.
 No smoking inside the clubhouse or bench area. No smoking anywhere during the dry season.
 Open flames are NOT permitted anywhere at this facility. Subject to approval during special occasions or events by Executive Members.
 Please do NOT shoot any of the Number Boards or Baffles (railway ties).
 Steel targets/Gongs are NOT permitted on this property.
 Exploding targets of any kind are NOT permitted on this property.
 Set target stands and/or set up cross boards for your targets.
 Please take down all targets when you are finished and keep the facility clean. Take your garbage out with you. It is your facility too, please respect it.
 Club equipment is not to leave the premises. Disobeying the rules, acting reckless or intentional property damage will result in membership suspension or termination, to be determined by the Executive Officers
MEETINGS AND MEMBERSHIPS
 Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm (At the Clubhouse unless otherwise posted)
 Annual Memberships are from Jan 01 to Dec 31.
 Family Membership is defined as Husband, Wife (or partners) and children under 18 yrs. of age.
 Locks are changed each year on Jan 31st.
 Exchange your old key at no charge for a new one. ($10 for a new key, $10 for lost/replacement key)

ACTS
Assume every firearm is loaded. Control the muzzle direction at all times. The trigger finger must be kept off the trigger and out of the trigger guard. See that the firearm is unloaded – PROVE it safe. PROVE
Point the firearm in the safest available direction. Remove all ammunition. Observe the chamber. Verify the feeding path. Examine the bore.

After our recent closure due to the extreme fire conditions this summer, the range will now be reopening this Saturday August 29th. Please note there is fire suppression equipment at the range. (orientations are required for all current and new members).

Due to the extreme fire hazard we are experiencing throughout our Province and with BC now being under "State of Emergency", we have decided for the safety of all, to close the range to all until further notice. A closed sign will be posted at the gate.

The new updated range rules, please read and familiarize yourself with them.

Our bylaws have been amended to include quarterly meetings now, March, June and Sept every 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm and a voted on Friday in December.

We will be having a Range Re-opening Day this coming Saturday July 18th, starting at 10:00 a.m. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs available for purchase. New memberships will also be available for purchase.

As an orientation of the range is now mandatory before the gate code can be given; an orientation will be done on Saturday. Orientations are required for current members and new members (please note if your membership lapses, you must be reorientated).

Great news! As a result of all the updates and work we have completed at the range, we've been given our range approval. Please stay tuned for a grand re-opening!

Please note an orientation of the range is mandatory before the gate code will be given to members.
