O-soto-gari
This is one of the first techniques most people learn, but it is relevant in all levels of competition. It is a good technique for young people as it doesn't require the leg strength that hip and or shoulder throws require. The goal is to make your partner lean backwards, step in close and sweep their leg with a strong reaping motion. This is categorized as ashi-waza (foot technique).
