📣 Fall Session Update

Burnewood has let us know that floor renovations are starting later than planned, running Aug 27–Sept 12. Because of this, our Fall Session will now begin Monday, Sept 14.

The payment deadline is extended to Friday, Sept 28.

30 Years in Burnewood!

This dojo has grown strong because of the people who’ve shaped it — especially our black belts, past and present. Your leadership, mentorship, and commitment have lifted this community for decades.

A huge thank‑you to Chief Instructor of Sh*to‑ryu Karate‑Do Kyokai, Sensei Steuart, to Shihan Fumio Demura, and to my first instructor, Sensei Steve Vrabel. Each of you has played an important role in my 48‑year Karate journey and in the spirit of this dojo.

I’m grateful for everyone who shows up with heart, humility, and the drive to help others grow. Here’s to the next chapter.

Our Fall Session is starting soon and we’re excited to welcome everyone back — including new beginners ages 6 to Adult.

📅 Session Dates: Sept 2, 2026 – Jan 29, 2027
📍 Location: Burnewood Community Hall, 4118 - 41 Ave NW
⏰ Registration Deadline: Sept 4

Weekly Schedule (September):

Monday
• 7:30–8:15 PM — Brown–Black Belts (Karate) — No class Sept 7 (Labour Day)
• 8:15–9:00 PM — Intermediate / Advanced Kobudo

Wednesday
• 7:00–8:00 PM — White–Green Belts (Karate)
• 8:00–9:00 PM — Brown–Black Belts (Karate)

Friday
• 7:00–8:00 PM — All Belts (Karate)
• 8:00–9:00 PM — Kobudo – All Levels

Above class times are for September only and may be adjusted starting in October.

Payment can be made by cheque (Chris Eckert) or e transfer to [email protected]. Cash, Credit Card and Debit are also accepted.

Kyokai members gathered in Lloydminster this past weekend to train together and honour the memory of Shihan Fumio Demura at the 41st Annual Demura Festival. A great weekend of training, learning and celebrating. Well done everyone!
