Alberta Baton (ABTA) has been the sport governing body for baton twirling in the province of Alberta, Canada since 1971.​

ABTA has clubs all over the province that offer classes in baton, dance and acro from beginner to elite levels.

Athletes- you asked for there to be more fun events at comeptitions in the upcoming season. Well, here you go!

Sign up for the 2026/2027 All Star Program: https://form.jotform.com/262405928163055

Athletes from across Alberta will be placed into small teams made up of athletes from different clubs, ages and competitive levels, and those teams will stay together throughout the season.

This isn't about adding another serious competition. The goal is to create more opportunities to:

Meet athletes from other clubs
Cheer each other on
Work together
Show some creativity
Build leadership skills
Have a little fun along the way!

Teams will earn points through different challenges throughout the season, including featured challenges at ABTA competitions.

Teams will be officially launched around Fall Camp, where athletes attending camp will have their first opportunity to meet and work with their teammates.

You do NOT have to attend Fall Camp to participate in the All-Star Challenge. If some team members aren't at camp, their teammates will make sure they are included and connected afterward.

Each team will also get to create its own identity — including a team name, colour, mascot/logo and captain.

Join us in welcoming Danielle Skinner as one of our incredible instructors for the 2026 ABTA Fall Training Workshop! We're so excited to have her!

Instructor Bio:

Danielle Skinner is a Canadian baton twirler, choreographer, and athlete who has spent her life immersed in both the baton and dance worlds. A 10-time member of Team Canada, Danielle most recently represented Canada at the Royal Championships, placing 10th internationally.

In 2026, Danielle was named the CBTF Grand National Champion in Solo and Two-Baton. She is passionate about choreography and creative expression, drawing on her background in both dance and baton to create routines that combine technical precision, musicality, and artistry.

Danielle is also the CBTF Athletes’ Representative, where she advocates for athletes and works to help grow and strengthen the sport of baton twirling in Canada.

Outside of baton, Danielle is currently pursuing her law degree, balancing her studies with her continued career as an athlete, coach, and choreographer.

Please join us in welcoming Brianna Middleton as one of our incredible instructors for the ABTA 2026 Fall Training Workshop!

Instructor Bio:

My name is Brianna Middleton, and I'm from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. I was a competitive baton twirler for 18 years and had the honour of representing Canada at multiple International Cups, Grand Prix events, and World Championships.Throughout my career, I became a four-time Grand National Champion( in Medley, Two Baton, and Three Baton (twice)). One of my proudest achievements was earning the silver medal in Senior Three Baton at the 2023 World Championships. Winning a world medal in the event I have such a special passion for was a dream come true and a moment I'll cherish forever. Today, I'm proud to give back to the sport as a coach, helping the next generation of athletes pursue their passion. This October I will have my induction ceremony into the Moncton sports wall of fame , which is a true honour and I’m so proud to represent the sport that has shaped so much of my life !

Please join us in welcoming Carolyn Day as one of our instructors for the 2026 ABTA Fall Training Workshop!

Instructor bio:

Carolyn Day participated in baton twirling for 18 years. Hard work and dedication brought her numerous North American and international titles and recognition.

During her athletic career, she achieved: Canadian Grand National Championship titles in 2-Baton (1987, 1988), Medley (1988), Solo Dance (1989); CBTF Sr. Women's Athlete of the Year (1990, 1991); representing Canada at the WBTF World Championships from 1986-1991: 1986 Team Silver Medal (with Loranne Meek), 1989 Sr. Women's Silver medalist, 1991 Sr. Women's Bronze medalist, and 1990 Sr. Women's Gold medal and World Championship title in San Antonio, TX.

Carolyn was honoured to work with a coaching team that included Annette Odello (Concord, CA) and Loranne Meek.

Outside of baton, Carolyn is the Community and Marketing Director for Acrobatic Arts where she works with an incredible team of former Canadian and American baton twirlers.
