Fisher Peak is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. This trail challenged us with steep rock scrambles that had me in tears when I felt like I was stuck with nowhere to climb up or down because of fear, rain that prevented us from hitting the very top for safety reasons, and legs that can hardly stand up off of the couch the day after lol. But, totally worth it! We may have been just shy of the summit, but we will be back. After talking to some avid hikers that are familiar with the trek, we know the best route to try to climb to reach the top. Falling shale was quite dangerous on the climb up at the last stretch of the hike as people were climbing above you. If you take this trail in the near future, keep far to the right at that first scramble area.
Fisher Peak has been a goal for us since we got sober. This hike wasn't a failure, and we will be back! I'm proud of us. I pushed through my fear for a few checkpoints before we turned around, and it felt good to accomplish that much! Experience is what will ultimately get us to that summit. Just like with a fitness journey, a recovery/sobriety journey, or any goal that you set - you only fail when you stop trying. Life favours those who give a f*ck
