What a day ❤️

Our DH Family Day was everything we hoped it would be — movement, laughter, food, awards, families, coaches, clients, kids, and a whole lot of team spirit.

From the Family Quest around the Tervuren lakes to the awards back at the gym, it was such a beautiful reminder that DH is more than a place to train.

It’s a community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came, took part, helped, cheered, ran, walked, laughed, and celebrated with us.

And a special thank you to our amazing team, who helped make the day run so smoothly and created the kind of atmosphere that makes DH feel like DH.

Days like this remind us why we do what we do.

DO IT FOR YOU.

The standard of care a client receives will never rise above the standard of development inside the team delivering it.

That is why education has always been part of the system at DH, not an afterthought.

We are strengthening that further through a collaboration with Pre-Script, bringing respected external education into the way our coaches and physios continue to grow.

The goal: keep building one of the best environments in Belgium for serious coaches and physios to develop. Because when the team keeps improving, the client is the one who benefits.

If you are a coach who wants to grow seriously, this is the direction we are building toward.

A lot of coaches see the hips shoot up in a deadlift and go straight to cueing:

“Keep your hips down.”

The client tries but fails, so they repeat the cue... when frustration sets in, they drop the exercise and choose something easier for them.

At DH, we try to do something better.

We start by asking ourselves:

Why are the hips shooting up?

One possible reason is poor leg drive.

To test that, we can use a paused deadlift just off the floor.

If the athlete cannot maintain the back angle there, weak leg drive is a likely limiter.

If that is the issue, we do not just throw random accessory work at it.

We keep the main pattern, but adjust it:

Reduce load
Pause 1–2 cm off the floor
Teach the hips and shoulders to rise together

And then support it with assistance work like:

Quad dominant exercises such as:
Cyclist Squat
Split squats
Low-handle trap bar deadlifts

Or add more ISO work on the deadlifts...

The key point is this:

The visible fault is not always enough.

Good coaching does not just spot the problem.
It tests the likely limiter, adjusts the main lift, and builds the right support around it.

That is how better decisions are made.

Most people think progression in the gym is simple:

If the bar goes up, the load should go up.

But that view is too narrow.

At DH, progression is not just about completing reps.
It is about whether the athlete has actually earned the right to load the movement further.

Before increasing load, we look at four things:

Position : can they get into and maintain a strong start and finish position?
Control : can they own the movement without losing stability, tempo or tension?
Range : can they access the range required without compensation?
Intent : does the movement show strength, purpose and quality?

If those standards are not there, adding load often just reinforces a compensation.

That is why more weight is not always better.
Sometimes it is simply a more impressive way of doing the movement worse.

Real progression is not about chasing load.

It is about raising the standard first.

At DH, we do not just progress load.
We progress standards.

What a weekend of learning!!

A few weeks ago, we hosted and .faasse to level up our physiotherapy with over 60 lower body protocols

And our clients and patients are already feeling the benefit 🤩

Can’t wait for the next one for spine!

In group classes, most people count their own reps.

But the issue is that they tend stop when it gets uncomfortable. Count the tempo a little faster. Control the weight a little less…

At DH, we do things differently.

The coach controls:
• the tempo
• the reps
• the intensity

Our results aren’t left to chance…

They’re coached. Every step of the way.

Part 2: Skinfold Interpretation

📅 25–26 April 2026
📍 Tervuren

Skinfold testing is one of the most powerful tools for understanding body composition — but only when it’s done correctly and interpreted properly.

In this two-day course, Dan Hunter will teach you how to perform accurate skinfold measurements and, more importantly, how to interpret what they actually mean for your clients’ health and performance.
This is not just about measuring body fat.
It’s about learning how to connect the data to physiology, lifestyle, nutrition and real coaching decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
• The real value of skinfold measurements in coaching
• How to take accurate measurements across different skinfold sites
• How to interpret results alongside symptoms and bloodwork
• How to translate the data into nutrition, supplement and lifestyle strategies
• Practical case studies you can apply immediately with clients

If you want to coach with more precision, confidence and impact, this course will give you the tools.

Light doesn’t just help you see — it tells your body how to function. ☀️

Your brain uses light exposure to regulate your sleep, hormones, energy and recovery.

In modern life, those signals are often flipped.
We spend most of the day indoors under low light, then expose ourselves to bright, artificial light late into the evening. That’s the opposite of how we’re designed to live.

This disrupts melatonin — your sleep hormone but also a powerful antioxidant involved in recovery, immune function and cellular protection… as well as metabolism.

Research suggests that circadian disruption and late-night light exposure can impact how your body handles food, insulin sensitivity and overall energy regulation.

Did you know that light exposure during sleep can increase heart rate and increase insulin resistance? Your eyes might be closed, but your body is paying attention.

Bottom line: Many of us are getting far less natural daylight than we were designed for.

The key is consistency.

Your circadian rhythm isn’t reset in a day — it’s shaped by what you do repeatedly.

Get outside early in the day
Expose your eyes to natural light
Dim lights after sunset
Use warmer, softer light in the evening 🕯️

Your biology still expects the same signals it always has.

What is your momentum hiding?

Most reps look good when they’re fast.

But speed can hide:
loss of tension
poor positioning
weak ranges
lack of control

When you:
pause mid-rep
slow the tempo

…you remove the ability to compensate.

What’s left is what you actually own.

👉 If you can’t control it, you don’t own it.

Simple way to test this:
Add a 3–5 sec pause in your weakest position
Or use a 5050 tempo for a few reps

You’ll quickly see where the work really needs to happen.

At DH, we don’t just chase reps.
We build control first.

Sitting for more than 8 hours per day affects posture, mobility and energy levels.

Adding small movement breaks and simple shoulder exercises can make a big difference over time.
