2026 Victorian State ISSF Titles – Melbourne Gun Club
The Melbourne Gun Club proudly hosted the 2026 Victorian State ISSF Trap and S***t Titles across May 23–24, attracting strong fields from across Victoria and interstate competitors and New Zealand battling it out for state honours and places on the Victorian State Teams as well as selections for International Teams.
While competitors avoided rain and heavy wind over the weekend, conditions were still far from easy. Chilly temperatures combined with overcast skies made target visibility challenging at times, producing tough shooting conditions across both disciplines. Despite this, the standard of competition remained extremely high, with several excellent performances recorded throughout the event.
The ISSF Trap events saw outstanding shooting from Australia’s top athletes. In the Ladies Final, Penny Smith claimed victory with 27/30 ahead of Kiara Dean and Laetisha Scanlan. The Men’s Final was won by James Willett with 27/30, defeating Gabriel Sensi and Milad Nasr.
In the Victorian State ISSF Trap Titles, Gabriel Sensi took out AA Grade with a superb 120/125, narrowly ahead of Charlton Vella on 119/125. Other grade winners included Daniel Cleary (A Grade), Michael Vella (B Grade), Clint Bugter (C Grade), Ryan Chounding (Junior) and John Wojcik (Veteran).
The ISSF S***t competition also produced excellent results. Brittany Melbourne won the Women’s Final with 28/36, while Paul Adams claimed the Men’s Final with 33/36. In the Victorian State ISSF S***t Titles, Luke Argiro won AA Grade with a great 120/125, while George Papachristoforous claimed A Grade and Junior honours. Sarah Caldwell won B Grade and Jaya Deans took out C Grade.
A huge thank you must go to the many volunteer officials, scorers, referees and helpers who made the weekend possible. Events of this size rely heavily on volunteers giving up their time, and the Melbourne Gun Club sincerely appreciates everyone who assisted across the two days.
Special thanks go to Jane Vella from Shooting Australia for her tremendous support throughout the event, along with Dean and Dylan Naylor for their significant contribution to the smooth running of the championships.
Congratulations to all competitors, placegetters and Victorian Team members selected to represent the state.
