💛 THANK YOU, COMMUNITY BANK MT EVELYN 💛

A huge thank you to the team from Community Bank Mt Evelyn(Bendigo Bank) for joining us at Keith Hume Fraser Reserve for the Bendigo Bank Round on 28–30 August.

It was great to share the weekend with them and introduce them to some of the teams playing at home – from our youngest juniors through to the senior men and women – all wearing the Community Bank Mt Evelyn name on the front of the shirt. They joined our captains and referees for the pre-match photos, presented the match balls, took home a signed LMU jersey, and even had a look at our master plan for the future of the reserve.

Support like this is what keeps a community club like ours on the park, and we're proud to have Community Bank Mt Evelyn alongside us.

⚽ JOGA BONITO – TERM 4 2026 ⚽

Spring football - 7 Saturdays of skills, confidence and fun for boys and girls aged 6–13.

Joga Bonito – "the beautiful game" – is all about ball mastery, building confidence and having fun with the ball at your feet. It's ideal for kids who already play and want more touches on the ball, and the perfect stepping stone for newer players getting ready for club football in 2027.

📅 7 Saturdays from 10 October
(no session 31 Oct – Melbourne Cup weekend)
⏰ Ages 6–7 & 8–9: 9:30am – 10:20am
⏰ Ages 10–13: 9:30am – 10:45am
📍 Pitch 2, Keith Hume Fraser Reserve, 95 Swansea Rd, Montrose
$110 for the full program

No special kit needed – boots or runners with good grip, shin guards (strongly recommended) and comfy shorts and a top.

🐾 Tink vs the round ball

If you made it to this year's trivia night, you've already met Tink — and you'll know our club dog has absolutely no complaints about the state of the grounds at Keith Hume Fraser Reserve. Mud is the whole point when you're a dog.

The round ball sees it differently. The video says it all: one of them is having a wonderful time out there, and it isn't the ball. And this isn't flood damage — it's just an ordinary Montrose winter on our pitches.

And let's be clear — none of this takes anything away from the great work happening inside the club. This year alone, 30 of our coaches completed their Foundation of Football certificate and 8 completed their C Diploma. Our people have never been better; our grounds just haven't kept up with them.

That's exactly why the KHFR Master Plan matters. Together with Montrose Cricket Club, we've developed a plan for the long-term redevelopment of the reserve — four properly drained pitches, safer access and off-street parking, and a new pavilion — and the community's fingerprints are already all over it. Many of the ideas you've sent in have gone straight back into the plan, and the next version will be structured into four clear stages of development, designed to keep football running right through the build and make the whole process smoother for neighbouring residents and everyone who uses the reserve. And the timing matters: we have a meeting coming up with Yarra Ranges Council, so right now is exactly the moment to have your voice counted.

We're not only planning years ahead, either. At that meeting we'll also be raising a few fixes that would help right now: redirecting run-off from the newly sealed car park (which currently drains onto the lower pitch and has made flooding worse than before the works), a proper clean-out of the old drains under the pitches, and new spouting on the club rooms so roof water stops emptying straight onto the top pitch.
