⚫️⚪️ Warwick Water Rats 40 def Dalby Wheatmen 0 ⚪️⚫️

The Warwick Water Rats celebrated Sponsors' Day in style with a 40-0 victory over the Dalby Wheatmen at home. It was a fast-flowing game full of excitement, although at times the pace worked against the Rats, with some loose ball creeping into the performance. The boys reined things in after the break, tidying up key areas of their game and continuing to build pressure as the scoreboard kept ticking over.

Player of the Match was a very close contest this week, but the 3 points go to returning Water Rat Charlie Brennand. Directing the side from flyhalf, Charlie provided excellent leadership and direction throughout the match. His reliable kicking repeatedly got the team out of trouble and marched the Rats upfield, while his dependable hands helped unleash the dangerous backline.

A close second this week was Alosio "Abel" Abele. A constant threat with ball in hand, Abel made multiple line breaks and crossed for two tries of his own. His defensive efforts were equally impressive, combining sharp game awareness, athleticism and technique to produce several highlight-reel tackles.

One point this week goes to Jone "John" Donato. Back in his preferred position at inside centre, he was given more room to attack the defensive line and formed a dangerous combination with Abel in the midfield. He also continued his strong try-scoring form with a well-earned try of his own.

⚫️⚪️ Warwick Water Rats 10 def by St George Frillies 17 ⚪️⚫️

The Warwick Water Rats hosted the St George Frillies for our Cultural Round, going down 17-10 in another hard-fought clash between the two sides. As always, it was an extremely physical contest, with the scoreline remaining tight throughout the afternoon.

Player of the Match goes to Kaveni Serewai for his immense work rate and ability to consistently create opportunities with the ball in hand.

Special mentions also to Captain Louw Wiid for another outstanding display of leadership through his tireless effort across the park, Corne Maritz for making a strong impact off the bench with some physical defensive efforts, and Hamish Swift for his reliable service and accuracy from the base of the ruck.

🏉 CULTURAL ROUND 🏉

Tomorrow we take on St George in a special Cultural Round clash here in Warwick, with kick off at 1:30pm.

This round is about celebrating the diversity that makes our club stronger, both on and off the field. We’ll be proudly flying flags representing the cultures within our rugby family and especially acknowledging the players who are far from home, while continuing to support their families overseas.

Many of these players sacrifice time with loved ones and work incredibly hard both on and off the field. Their commitment, resilience and contribution to our community deserve to be celebrated.

Funds raised throughout the day will go toward helping support these players and easing some of the costs involved while they are living and playing here in Warwick.

Come down, support the boys, celebrate our community, and enjoy a great day of rugby. 🐀

⚫️⚪️ Warwick Water Rats 45 def Condamine Cods 0 ⚪️⚫️

The Warwick Water Rats travelled to USQ, Toowoomba and came away with an exciting 45-0 win over the Condamine Cods. Despite the scoreline, the Cods tested the Rats’ defensive discipline early with fearless carries into the defensive line. As the game settled, the Water Rats were able to control more possession and turn it into some exciting attacking football.

Player of the Match goes to Jone Donato, who continued his unreal run of form this season from the midfield. Defensively, he continues close down opposition threats, while in attack he showed a great eye for opportunity, finishing with a hat-trick alongside several try assists.

Special mentions also to Rob Drennert for an outstanding starting debut at prop, scrummaging strongly and carrying hard over the advantage line. Will Ole delivered another impressive performance at tighthead with his dominant scrummaging and reliable defence, while debutant Samisoni “Sami” Muavou made an immediate impact off the bench with his physicality in both attack and defence.

Our women have some well deserved rest tomorrow but our senior men are keen to take on Condamine Cods at UniSQ Toowoomba in what promises to be a massive contest.

The work has been done. The focus is locked in. Now it’s time to deliver.

Kick-off is 1:30PM in Toowoomba and the squad is eager to hit the field and put together a strong performance.

We’re heading in determined, disciplined, and ready to make a statement.
