Leading by example and inspiring the next generation! If you have a passion for conservation, citizen science and sharks, this is for you!!

Are you 12–17, living in NSW, and passionate about the ocean? Applications are now open for the Spot A Shark Youth Ambassador Program, supported by The FINstitute!

This 100% FREE, 4-month online program (Sept–Dec) is designed to give 10 young people the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become shark advocates in their communities.

Learn citizen science & photo ID techniques from marine scientists and photographers. Improve your skills in public speaking, digital storytelling, and science communication. Create real-world school & community projects. Bonus opportunity: Present at the Ocean Lovers Festival in March 2027!

You don't need to be a marine scientist, you just need to be curious and enthusiastic about sharks.

This reel is only a small glimpse of what was an enormous effort by so many people to give one beautiful dolphin every possible chance. 🐬

For hours, through the night, people stood beside her. Supporting her, watching every breath, every movement, every little sign of strength and hope.

Together with ORRCA, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, NSW Police and Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters, an incredible group of people worked tirelessly to care for her and try to get her strong enough to return home.

There were moments during the night when she became stronger. She began holding herself upright, moving with purpose and trying to swim. Those moments gave us hope. We allowed ourselves to believe that maybe, just maybe, we were going to get her back to the ocean.

Sadly, that wasn’t to be.

Despite everything that was done for her, we lost her.

This one hurt. A lot.

For those from Worimi Country, it felt deeper than simply losing an animal we had spent the night trying to save. After hours of physically supporting her, talking to her, encouraging her and feeling every breath she took, saying goodbye was incredibly difficult.

We finished with a smoking ceremony as we farewelled a sister.

It was powerful, heartbreaking and something we will carry with us for a very long time.

There are rescues where you celebrate the animal disappearing back beneath the waves, and there are others where all you can take comfort from is knowing that when they needed help, people showed up.

People showed up for her.

To every ORRCA volunteer who answered the call and stayed through the night, to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, NSW Police, the team from Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters, and every person behind the scenes who helped coordinate, transport, monitor, support and care for her — thank you.

Thank you for the exhaustion, the wet clothes, the aching bodies, the knowledge, the compassion and the determination to keep trying.

The outcome wasn’t what any of us desperately wanted, but she was never alone.

She was surrounded by people fighting for her right until the end.

Rest peacefully, sister. 🐬🤍

We felt every moment with you.

What a fantastic night at the MidCoast Business Awards! 🥂✨

A huge congratulations to all of the finalists and winners. It was wonderful to celebrate so many incredible local businesses, and our team certainly scrubbed up pretty well! 👏

This year, Forster Dive Centre entered 8 categories and was honoured to be named a finalist in 7. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of and a reflection of the passion and hard work our entire team puts in every single day.

Of all the categories, Sustainability meant the most to us. Protecting our marine environment, educating our community, and inspiring people to care for our oceans is at the heart of everything we do. While we were naturally disappointed not to take home that award, it certainly won’t change our commitment. If anything, it reinforces why we do what we do. We believe every diver, every student, every beach clean-up and every conservation effort makes a difference.

Most importantly, thank you to the amazing Forster Dive Centre team who represented us on the night. You all looked incredible and represented our business with professionalism, pride and plenty of smiles. We couldn’t ask for a better group of people to stand alongside.

What an epic Shark Weekend! 🦈🔥
Huge thanks to the awesome crew from Abyss Scuba Sydney for making the trip north and joining us for a weekend packed with sharks, laughs, great dives and good people.

A massive shout out as well to Sarah from Spot A Shark for coming along and sharing her knowledge on all things sharks, conservation and how divers can contribute to citizen science. It was such a great addition to the weekend and awesome to see everyone getting behind it.

And of course… how good were the limited edition Shark stainless steel coolers and the new Shark inspired shirts 👌
