Hi All,
Today’s invitational game is definitely cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Will look forward to bringing forward a new game in the next few weeks.

Hi all.
Ta to those who offered to play vs Vets tomorrow.
Sadly it is OFF.
The fickle weather has made it too tricky for Chappo.
Next time!
Cheers

We had a cracking game yesterday with the Beacon Hill lads up on the Northern Beaches—an absolute belter of a day, even if the scoreboard looked like it needed a jump start. A low-scoring affair for both sides, but plenty of quality on show.

A few honourable mentions with the bat—Jase Smythe, Thapa , and Jessie Townsend all got in and had a look, putting together some handy runs while others were still trying to middle one off the square.

With the ball, it was a real team effort. Olivia Herivel bowled an absolute peach of a spell—0/9 off four overs including a maiden… tighter than a new Kookaburra seam. Jessie Townsend backed it up by cleaning up with some outstanding figures, proving just as dangerous with ball in hand.

Dishonourable mention (we had to have one) goes to Smythe for running out Wright just as he was eyeing off yet another ton—arguably the best throw we’ve seen all season from an opposing team (if that makes it any easier Paul)
To his credit, Jase made up for it later with the bat… just enough to stay in the good books.

A massive thank you to Chapman for preparing the deck—it played beautifully all day… well, according to most. Griffin is still convinced it had a personal vendetta against him after his early departure.

I think it’s fair to say everyone had a great day, and there’s a very high chance this one becomes a regular fixture. This is exactly what we want our club to be about—bringing people together, building new friendships, and mixing in a bit of friendly rivalry with teams from afar.

These are the days that remind you why we love cricket… even when the runs are harder to come by than a clean leave outside off.

🚨 SELECTIONS ARE IN FOR THIS WEEKEND 🚨

Cam Griffin leads the Great Lakes Dolphins into their first-ever clash against the Beacon Hill Tiger Sharks, skippered by Craig Allomes.

New rivalry. Fresh energy. No history — just two sides ready to rip in. Expect plenty of laughs, a bit of spice, and a cracking contest from start to finish.

And in even better news — Chappo has been hard at work preparing a proper turf pitch, so we’re rolling out on the good stuff this weekend. No excuses now… just bring your A-game.

Game details:
• $10 game fee for all players
• Tuncurry Sports Oval — turf pitch
• Arrive at 11:30am for a 12:00pm start

Not lacing up the boots? No worries — get down anyway. Bring the noise, bring the banter, and get around the club. The sidelines will be just as important as the field.

Let’s make it one to remember 🔥

A great post from Barry Everingham on today’s exploits for young and old during our MNC Veterans and Great Lakes Cricket Club mixed men’s invitational!

MNC Intra Club Invitation Practice Match

(With support from Great Lakes CC players)

Tuncurry’s South St Oval today saw a rag tag group of old & not so in a practice match where both sides were mixed in age & background.

As usual, local curator Wok Chapman produced a cracking deck we were blessed to enjoy.

After a number of withdrawals, a group of Great Lakes players topped up the Mnc Vets guys, who’d already grabbed the support of Coffs legend Bruce Mackie & Central Coasts champion Charlie Charlton.

The match saw a new schemata given the smaller numbers with each batter batting for 25 balls regardless if they had a dismissal amongst their innings. Batting side members fielded &/or bowled for the opposition as required with the aim of everyone getting a bat & bowl fulfilled well.

Grant Elliott led the ‘Limpers’ as they batted first & despite a couple of dismissals here & there they put on 85 for their first 20 in the split innings set up.

Everingham’s Hobblers did likewise with again dismissals amongst some big hitting to end their first section well in the lead with 127. Morris & young gun Herival scored heavily with dismissals amongst it, whilst Russ Madeley was all class in his knock.

The Limpers did well in their second stanza, doubling their score with again dismissals here & there to various, but landing on a respectable 10/179!

Mitch Clark, Jase Smythe & Beau Peter all scored well amidst it all. All bowlers did well with Charlton & Madeley, along with young leggy McCarthy (despite a last over plundering) all doing well.

The Hobblers looked headed for a simple chase but after Everingham & Bulmer retired, it became a graft for a while until Abisheck & young McCarthy completed the chase plus some, as they batted their innings out.

It was a beaut day with all involved in some way.

MoM for Limpers was Mitch Clark for his run haul, despite dismissals, and a fine ‘Michelle’…. the hilight being getting Herival bowled in a tight spell of spin! Plenty of talk about that & more to come we’d think! 🤪😂

MoM for Hobblers was Charlton, a superb if unlucky bowling spell, tremendous chasing in the field & like our Dorrigo traveller Mackie, a superb commitment to getting here from the south!

Match balls went to Smythey for his batting, bowling & keeping stint effort whilst Deano McCarthy was a standout for surperb fielding, gutsy leggy bowling & a beaut last man matting stint. Besides good natured joking & a bit of sledging of his team mate & big brother with clever consistency throughout!

A hilight for us all was discussing & recognising the recent tragic loss of well regarded Coasty of the North, John Brenton, & Central Coast Cricket & NSW Veterans/Masters Chair, Johnny Jewiss.

Black arm bands and a minutes silence was our simple way of honouring them in a great day we had, that we know they would have approved of.

Cheers to all. Well done lads.
Baz

ROUND 15 SELECTIONS ARE IN!!

Tier 1 travel to Cedar Party Oval to face off against Wingham. Weather is looking between 17* and 23* with overcast conditions. A night and day difference compared to our last outing there which felt more like a date with a commercial oven or kiln.

T2 Green enjoy the home ground advantage against Taree United. With Tommy handing the reigns over to Chappo, can our colourful communicator and fill in captain steer Green to victory? Time will tell…

Gold get the bye this week, if you’re in town, come and support your fellow players in T2 at Lake St tomorrow.

Ready up, rip in and BAT THE OVERS!!
