Our first winners to receive the Paul and Sandra Reynolds trophy, from the players it was named in honour of, were our Tier C winners, Sue Bryan and Jenny Charnock (Woolgoolga) who prevailed in a nail-biting final over Peter Wright and Ian Darlington (Laurel Bank).

In Tier A, the triumphant pair were Werner Borkhardt and Dennise Simmons (Byron Bay) who defeated Robert Kidd and Lorraine Hathaway (Eildon).

Tier B saw Carol Kleidon (Wynnum) and Jenny Ross-Maloney (Windsor) win a low-scoring final against Peter and Judy DeVene (Eildon).

πŸ† Golf Doubles Trophy πŸ†

One of the special moments of the 2026 Darling Downs Croquet Tournament was introducing a brand new trophy for Golf Croquet Doubles.

For many years, GC Doubles was the only long-running event without a trophy, so it felt only right to name it after two people who have helped shape the tournament for almost 20 years β€” Paul and Sandra Reynolds.

Since becoming involved with the Darling Downs Tournament Committee, Sandra and Paul have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. When Golf Croquet faced an uncertain future in 2012, Paul Reynolds and Des Shore stepped up to help keep it going β€” and what a success story it has become.

We've endured the extremes in weather, 38 degrees down to 10 degrees, floods and drought and even Covid. Paul and Sandra have always been there to help, support and step in whenever needed.

We sincerely thank them for everything they have done for the tournament and are proud to honour them with the Paul & Sandra Reynolds Golf Doubles Trophy.

Congratulations and thank you, Paul and Sandra! πŸ‘

Celebrate World Croquet Day in our region at Dalby Croquet Club

Granted, World Croquet Day was yesterday! The Dalby sporting calendar was quite busy, so we’re keeping the celebration going today.

Come down to 'The Social Green' for a friendly game of Golf Croquet this afternoon from 2:00 pm. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just want to see what a mallet feels like, everyone is welcome for a game, a cuppa, and a chat.

See you at 58 Patrick Street (right by ANZAC Park).

Today we pause.

On ANZAC Day, we honour the courage, sacrifice and mateship of those who have served and continue to serve.

Out of respect, there will be no play today.

Lest we forget.

Good luck to the Queensland Team as they compete in the AC Eire Cup commencing in Perth today. They take on the home team Western Australia at Cambridge.

The Darling Downs has a rich history of players being part of Eire Cup teams over the years. Our first player to be part of a winning team was Nell McConanchie in 1960. Rene Cole was in the successful 1982 team. Betty Belz was part of the 1990 winning team. The most recent win in 2006 saw John Hardy and Jocelyn Sutton as members of the winning team. Our region was also represented by Lillian Gander, Jenny Sutton, Deidre Hardy and Addison Matthews.
