Congratulations to our U12 Boys Mountaineers team as they took out the Silver Medal in the SQJBC Southern Cup Last Weekend.

With the Basketball QLD State Championships beginning next week, Both our Boys and Girls U12 Mountaineers teams are in their final preparations before heading off to compete at the championships.

We wish both our teams all the best and we know you will repsent our association proud.

Breaking News!!!

The U18Boys have advanced through to Division 1 of the up-coming SQJBC season!
With convincing wins over Northside Wizards 2(101-57), and Sunshine Coast Phoenix Teal (66-54).
With only 8 players, rotations and team work were the key. Impressive, consistent performances by Jolon Seaby (28pts & 19pts), James Nugent (17pts & 13pts) and Samuel Geu (16pts & 8pts) have put the side in a positive position heading into regular season in October.
Congratulations 🎉 on the performance and good luck in the Division 1 competition!

Mountaineers edge out Caps in an exciting first round of division 1 grading.
Final score 61-50.

The game was one of tension as the intensity creased with every lead change, of which there were several.

Trailing in the third, a 3pt from Seth Ham to finish the quarter brought our side into striking distance. The Neers chased most of the game and went into the fourth down by 4.

Failing to land his shot in the first half, Sean Lindsay Holly stayed confident in his scoring ability and offensively humbled larger older opponents in the 4th with a barrage of buckets from inside and outside the arc also offering up some assists as he beat the tenacious full court pressure from Caps.

Seth Big Country Ham proved too big as he flaunted his physicality to bring down some important boards then finish with contact at the other end.

Coach Connelly showed trust and confidence in his side as he seamlessly moved through player rotations and stayed cool and tactical under pressure, coaching a win from behind against his former club.

Great work to Gav and his success at school championships as their manager. Gavin is also our 12s boys Mountaineers coach.

We are proud and lucky to have such talented coaching staff represent us here and in other prestigious competitions.

Congratulations to current U14 Boys Mountaineers player Tom Petrie who has recently returned from representing Queensland at the School Sport Australia Basketball Championships held in Bendigo 13 to 19 August 2022.

Tom had a great nationals and was a member of the U12 Boys Team that placed 3rd in Australia and taking out the Bronze Medal.

Special mention also goes out to Gavin Smith our current U12 Boys Mountaineers Coach for managing the Queensland Boys Team during their week away.

Georgie Pengilly Drops 33 in dominant performance over North Gold Coast Seahawks(White)
During the 6th Round of SQJBC Southern Cup.

Pengilly is the league's current top scorer with an average of 16.5 pts per game. An incredible feat for one of our own.

Thank you to Coach Karina of the under 12 Girls who had this to say about their performance last weekend.

"Our baby Neers under 12 girls had a big weekend of ball with training Saturday and attending Rebels under 12 games. Then off to Spartans for our carnival round. First game was a loss which showed we dont have morning people for an 8am start 🤣2nd game was a whole new team with overrall amazing performance from all our girls. Shout out goes to "Larry" Georgie Pengilly with a fantastic leadership game plus a top score of 33"
