A new pathway to elite sport has landed in South West Sydney.

Katalyst Performance has partnered with the South West Sydney Academy of Sport to launch the Elite Champions Program, a high-performance pathway built specifically for talented young athletes who aren't yet eligible for other SWSAS programs.

Running October 2026 to July 2027, this program bridges the gap between grassroots talent and elite representation, with coaching, education, and support built around the athlete as a complete person.

What's included:
· High-performance coaching and athlete development
· Personal branding and media training
· Leadership skills and mindset development
· SWSAS performance education
· Access to sports psychologists, physiotherapists, chaplains, and financial wellbeing advisors
· Athlete Leadership Camp (December 2026) and sport-specific camps through the SWSAS Wests Group Macarthur Future Champions Program

🟢⚪🔴 Big night at the SD Raiders Australia Cup game!

A few of our Katalyst junior athletes stepped up as ball boys on Tuesday night. Noah’s positioning was impeccable. 😉

Both Noah and Oswin were running around like lunatics behind the goals whenever the Bulls players stepped up to take a shot during the penalty shootout, trying to put them off.

Getting this close to the game, the atmosphere, and the professionalism of matchday is exactly the kind of experience that shapes young athletes.

Proud to see our juniors getting involved and soaking it all in. This is what building the next generation looks like.

🏆 CELEBRATING OUR ATHLETES 🏆

At Katalyst Performance, we're incredibly proud of all our athletes. Last night we got the privilege to attend the South Western Sydney Academy of Sport awards night, where several of the athletes we train, all part of SWSAS squads, were recognised for their achievements both in and out of their sport.

Sienna Biffin: SWSAS Next Generation Coaches Award.

Sienna absolutely loves being on her bike and is always striving to be better. While in a hospital bed, she asked for the squad's technical sessions could be recorded so she could still learn from it. That's the kind of commitment you can't teach, and it's exactly the attention to detail that separates good athletes from great ones. Congratulations, Sienna; absolutely thoroughly deserved.

Noah Szakos: SWSAS Coaches Award.

Noah hasn't let a sporting setback define him. Noah continued to support his teammates, set new goals, and chase his new standard, showing up with the same intensity every single session. This award reflects the work ethic that we at Katalyst Performance see day in and day out, proof that we're building better people, not just better athletes. Congratulations, Noah.

Jazwyln Lydddieth: SWSAS Indigenous Leadership Award, Indigenous Athlete of the Year & Indigenous Person of the Year.

An extraordinary clean sweep. Jazwyln's leadership, talent, and impact in both sport and her community are an inspiration to everyone around her. Everyone knows when Jaz is in the room. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement across the board.

Dan Morris: SWSAS Coach of the Year.

Behind every great athlete is a coach who invests the hours nobody sees: the early mornings, the honest conversations, and the individual attention that turns potential into performance. Dan pours that into every athlete he works with, developing them not just as competitors but as people, and this award is richly deserved recognition of that work.

Isla Basa: SWSAS Athlete of the Year.

Isla's willingness to trust the process and trust her coaches has translated into real results on the bike, and this award is proof of what that trust builds. We're excited to see her trajectory in the sport of BMX continue to rise.

📉 The Off-Season Only Trap (And the Athlete Leaving it Behind)

We see it every year. Athletes work their tails off from October to March, building a powerful engine. Then the competitive season starts, they stop training, and by mid-season, that engine is rusting.

When you only train in the off-season, you spend the first half of the season slowly losing your gains, and the second half just trying to survive.

But look at the data for this athlete. She refused to drop her strength and conditioning when the games started, logging an incredible 113 dedicated sessions between October and July, with only a quick 2-week break for Christmas. Because of that relentless consistency, she isn't just maintaining — she is actively pulling away from the competition.

Here is how much further forward she is moving compared to the average off-season-only athlete:

* Explosive Power (Where others fade): While most athletes see their vertical drop as game fatigue sets in, her 25.5 cm Countermovement Jump puts her in the 61st percentile globally for flight time. She is jumping higher and reacting faster during the season than most do at their peak.

* Injury Armour (90%+ Ahead of the Pack): The absolute biggest risk of stopping in-season training is hamstring neglect. This athlete is sitting in the 99th percentile (300 N Left) and 97th percentile (276 N Right) for Nordic hamstring strength. While others are tightening up and risking strains, her legs are built to endure the heavy seasonal workload.

* Zero Weak Links: Off-season gaps often manifest as imbalances under seasonal stress. She has hammered out a near-flawless symmetry — boasting just a 2.1% variance on her Hand Grip Squeeze and perfectly balanced hip mechanics (266 N vs 256 N).

The Verdict: The athlete who stops training in the season builds a peak, only to slide backward. The athlete who trains through the season creates a compounding advantage. Every week her competition takes a step back, she takes a step forward.

That’s why every session at Katalyst is built in close collaboration with Mia’s coaching team, Luke Sebastiani, Alex Bozovic and her dad Rob. What they’re seeing on the tennis court directly shapes what we build in the gym.
