I have been an Athletics Coach for almost 35yrs, and a Fitness Coach / Personal Trainer for almost 34yrs. As an open athlete, I am a former State 50km Track Champion, a Two-time National 50km Silver Medalist, and was formerly ranked in the Top 10 50km Trail Runners in the World.

Anyone who knows me would realise I am a little obsessed with watches, and in particular what would be considered “Tool Watches”.

The first watch watch I’m featuring is the Bausele Sydney Diver - Sand.

If you don’t know the Bausele brand, they are Australian owned & designed, and Swiss built.

They have a fantastic connection to the Australian Defence Force, and were even tapped to create two limited edition watches to commemorate the 75th anniversary of my infantry regiment , The Royal Australian Regiment.

With a number of our clients preparing for Military, 1st Responder, or Sporting Team fitness assessments, we have been focussing on how to improve performance on the good old beep test.

For the vast majority of individuals, an inability to accelerate of the line on each turn is the most limiting factor. The less steps it takes to get up to the required speed, the more chance you have of beating the beep.

Shown here is a beginner’s exercise targeting hip extension (I’ll post intermediate and advanced exercises soon).

Ensure you are using enough resistance that it is challenging, but not so much that you can’t stabilise the stationary leg.

With a number of our clients preparing for Military, 1st Responder, or Sporting Team fitness assessments, we have been focussing on how to improve performance on the good old beep test.

There’s Deadlifts, and then there’s Offset Gladiator Deadlifts. 💀

If you’re looking to seriously light up your Core, engage your Spinal Engine, and build serious functional strength, this is the exercise for you.

When working with Tactical Athletes (Military & 1st Responders) you become acutely aware that it’s rare that you will ever be lifting weight that just happens to be evenly dispersed.

The benefit to the Everyday Athlete (that’s probably you), is that it targets Mobility, Stability, and Applied Strength.

My clients normally do 2 to 3min sets on these, at a good cadence.

So, after I posted a story yesterday featuring our very own Greek Adonis 🇬🇷, I had quite a number of you DM me asking for more details regarding the exercises he was doing.

Well here is a run down of the first exercise - the Supine Bicep Row.

It’s an absolutely fantastic compound exercise to use a finisher for your biceps 💪🏼.
