Well, that was a huge weekend!
Our club members have returned from the two-day CDRA regatta held at the Manning River Rowing Club with a huge medal haul.
Brenton and Emma led the way with multiple gold medals with our club members also combining in composite crews to also grab top spot on the podium.
Emma won gold in a composite crew in the women’s C grade quad scull and in a composite crew in the championship women’s masters pair oar.
Also claiming gold were Gillian, Emma and Kim in a composite crew in the Women's Seeded 1000m Quad Scull while Zac and Brenton combined to win gold in the men’s D grade double scull.
Emma also claimed another gold in the composite crew competing in the championship women’s masters coxed/coxless four.
Brenton claimed another gold medal in the men’s C grade single scull Division 2 finishing in a solid time of 4.39.51.
And in what turned out to be a huge weekend, Brenton combined with Bianca to win gold in the mixed double scull – Division 2.
Young gun Brenton continued his fine recent form with a second in the championship men’s under 19 single scull in a top field.
Under the guidance of coach Mick Watts, Brenton continues to impress some keen judges.
Watts then teamed with David and Laurie in a composite crew to claim a silver medal in the championship Men’s masters quad scull with
Also claiming silver were Gillian and Julia in division 2 of the women’s seeded 1000m double scull while Kim and Emma also finished second in Division 1.
The mixed quad scull crew of Ellie, Bianca, Zac and Brenton picked up a silver medal in the good time of 3.42.
The silver medal haul continued with David and Laurie finishing second in the championship men’s masters double scull while Zac picked up a second in the men’s C grade single scull.
Bronze Medals went to, David in the championship men’s masters single scull; Gillian, Sarah and Helen in a composite crew in the Women's C Grade Quad Scull; Gillian, Sarah, Emma and Helen in the women’s seeded 1000m quad scull; Brenton combined in a composite crew in the men’s seeded 1000m double scull;
In the Mixed Masters Double Scull, David picked up a third in a composite crew; Michelle, Ellie, Julia and Sarah were third in the women’s seeded 1000m quad scull; Brenton took a bronze medal in the Men’s C grade quad scull in a composite crew; Michelle and Sarah claimed a bronze in the women’s seeded 1000m double scull Division 4;
In the Women's D Grade Quad Scull, Sarah, Julie, Kim and Gillian picked up a good third placing;
Bianca picked up a bronze in the final of the championship women’s under 19 single scull in a great effort.
Ellie was placed third in the final of the women’s seeded 1000m single scull;
Fourth placings included, Gillian and Julia in the women’s C grade double scull; Helen and Laurie in the mixed masters double scull.
Laurie finished just outside the medals in the championship men’s masters single scull in 5.40.41.
Gillian competed in a composite crew in the mixed masters quad scull.
Ellie and Zac were fourth in the Mixed Double Scull.
Michelle, Helen, Mick and Laurie finished fourth in the mixed quad scull.
Due to the conditions, club members opted out of the final few races on the day.
Overall, the club continues to improve its results across a range of racing conditions.
We are now focussed on the next regatta on NRRA on the Maclean at the end of the month.
