I'll be putting up a series of posts relating to last week's massive Golf Classic 51 over the next few days, to wrap that up for those that follow us that were not there.
I must start with some Thank You's, :
Firstly to all the fabulous visitors, your attendance really makes the event so very special for us - a shout out to the first timers, hope to see you back in 2027.
Secondly to the many sponsors for the event - your co0ntribution to the event is crucial to the success of the event.
A big thanks you to our members, and in some cases friends of the club, that are not current members, but pitch in and help with all manner of those big and small tasks that not only make the event work, but make it special.
A big thank you to Ian C***s, Chairperson of the Golf Classic Committee that devotes so many hours to making it all work, all with only two mistakes.
Thanks too to the Golf Classic Committee and the Management Committee, especially President Vanessa Kirkham that do a whole bunch of things that both make the event work, and/or are not essential but all add to the all important vibe of the week. That is our job I guess. Special shout out to starter and Captain Kath McCreanor, and the trophy procurement/set up team of Cathy Mayhew and Lyn C***s - and thanks to Kathy Earle for helping with the set up of trophies - not only never a member, but doesn't even play golf!
To the Course Manager, Cory Keenan, his government employment program workers, all the course volunteers, both the all year round crew and those that step in leading up to and during the event to present the course in as good a condition as possible, a huge thank you to you all.
To Debbie Kirkham and Selina Hodge who ran the kitchen and presented two excellent evening dinner, along with all those who helped in all aspects of the kitchen work, Thank you, a fantastic job.
To the Bar staff and volunteers thank you too, excellent work once again.
Finally to our members that may not necessarily contribute that much to the running of the event, but do turn up and play in it - we need you too.
Lastly congratulations to the winners, but we value all our players, successful or not. I think Kirsty Zozuk, Whyalla Visitor and winner on Day 5 hit the nail on the head when she said what is important (to us) is ythat you enjoy the event, not how you went as far as golfing success goes.
Anyway sorry if I have left any important area out for specific mention, you are meant to be included under some of the more general categories.
So, I have written all these words, so no-one else needs to write any of that, a simple emoji of approval is all you need do!
