Most people think these days are about the workout. They’re not.

Strength days. Conditioning days. Hybrid days. On paper it looks like programming. To us, each one is a different promise.

Strength is so you stay capable. So you never feel fragile in your own life.

Conditioning is so you’ve got the engine. Energy that lasts, a body that keeps going when life asks it to.

Hybrid is because real life isn’t one thing. Some days you need to be strong. Some days you need to keep going. Most days, both.

None of it is really about the lifting. It’s about building people who feel ready for their own lives.

Show up for the day that’s on. We’ll handle the rest.

They met here.

Strangers in a class together. Then training partners. Then friends who text on the days the other one doesn’t show.

That’s the thing nobody tells you about a good gym. You walk in for yourself. You stay because of the people training next to you.

Saturdays at AX look different depending on what you need.

Some people want one-on-one attention. They book PT.
Some people want to feel strong. They train strength.
Some people want to sweat their week out. They do conditioning.

Same gym. Same coaches. Three different ways in.

The same person doesn’t need the same thing on day one as they do on year three.

That’s why most gyms lose people. They sell one thing and hope it fits forever.

We built a path instead. Four parts. Each one doing something the others can’t. So whatever life looks like for you right now, there’s a way in, and a way to stay.

Swipe through.

Most gyms grow by getting bigger. We grow by getting closer.

We’re not a franchise. We never will be.

A franchise sells you a system. Same logo, same script, the same quiet feeling of being a number in someone’s rollout plan.

That has never been us.

We’re a family of businesses in one corner of Bibra Lake. A gym. A cafe next door. Run by real people who know your name, your dodgy knee, and how your kid’s game went on the weekend.

Ten years of that has built something you can’t licence out. Weddings. Friendships. Families. Hard seasons that had nothing to do with fitness, faced alongside people who showed up.

A franchise can copy the fit-out. It can’t copy the room.

So no, we won’t be opening one in every suburb. We’ll just keep getting closer.

This is what training looks like in our house.

Dorian’s there. Sometimes he’s on the rower. Sometimes he’s climbing on us. Sometimes he’s just watching.

He doesn’t see two parents who train despite him. He sees two parents who train, full stop. That’s exactly what we want him to see.

That’s also why we support other parents to do the same.

People think they don’t have time for the gym.

What they actually don’t have is the week the gym makes possible.

Tuesday morning becomes the thing that makes Wednesday evening at home work. That makes Saturday on the sideline feel like rest, not collapse. That gives Sunday back to you.

A normal week from the inside. Swipe through.

The coffee gets a lot of credit.

It’s not the thing that gets me moving. It’s just the small ritual before the bigger one. Fresh coffee, cruisy beats, a moment before it all starts. Two minutes before the day starts asking things of me.

That’s the whole trick. You don’t wait to feel ready. You build a habit that carries you on the mornings you don’t.

20 minutes is better than no minutes. Even when it’s dark. Even when it’s cold.

Here’s the honest bit. Even though I work here and I love it, training still feels hard some days. After 15 years though, it’s just what I do. The habit holds me when the motivation doesn’t.

Damon walked in as a youth athlete.

Now he’s a young man lifting 100kg off his chest.

He didn’t get there in a six-week program. He got there by training week in, week out, for years. By showing up on the days he didn’t feel like it. By trusting that the small wins were stacking, even when he couldn’t see them yet.

This is what the long game looks like.

Someone said this to me last week: “F**k fine.”

It stuck.

Fine job. Fine relationship. Fine fitness. Fine is what you settle for when you’ve stopped believing you can have more.

A few sessions a week. Some intention with what you eat.
People around you who know your name. That’s not a lot to ask of your week.

But it’s enough to step out of fine and into something better.
