Coaching is about creating a space where people feel heard, valued and supported as they navigate their own path. It’s about listening without judgment, asking thoughtful questions and trusting that each person already holds the strength within them.

The greatest privilege of coaching is witnessing someone step into their own confidence, make their own discoveries and achieve what matters most to them.

When coaching comes from a place of service, growth becomes less about direction and more about empowerment.

Most people walk into a gym chasing a physical result. What they often find is something bigger.

After reflecting on the weekend’s throwdown, it’s a reminder that what makes The Tribe special has never been the workouts alone, it’s the people who fill the room.

The encouragement, the friendships, the shared challenges and the ability to lift each other up.

What we’ve built together is pretty special and it’s something we’ll never take for granted.

The meat king himself, the Big Don “Ricky”.

Ricky is a silent achiever, ticking the boxes behind the scenes and continuing to work on some of his old habits. New to the tribe, he’s introduced moving a lot more, Saturday classes and a bunch of boys to 5am.

* What got you started at the tribe?
I was in a plateau and wanted a change plus add more cardio to my regular training. My strength was great I just wanted more energy to keep up with the kids.

* What is your favourite class at The Tribe and why? 
Favourite might be a stretch but I like pushing past my own mental barriers by going to the Saturday sessions.

* What’s your proudest gym moment so far?
My squat PB of 210kg. The lift felt really good and it was +10kg on my prior best.

* What’s your go-to post-workout meal or snack?
Loving the souvlaki wrap with eggs at the minute!

* If you weren’t at the gym, where would we probably find you?
At the coffee shop 

* What is your favourite lift?
Squats

* What song always gets you pumped for a workout?
I generally use music to chill out rather than get pumped for a workout. Enjoying this cover of small things by Delta Ash

* What advice would you give to someone just starting out? You won’t regret it!! 

* What keeps you showing up even on tough days?

* What is one random fact no one at the gym knows about you? 
 I really enjoy water skiing and grew up doing this most weekends. Don’t get to do it often now that we live in Perth but I still go alright on a single ski

If we could turn back time, our advice would be simple:

1. Move our body every day.
Goal isn’t for it to be perfect or optimal, but to move. It’ll help us the most as we age and you’ll be surprised how much we can get done with little time.

2. Sleep is king.
Performance, eating habits, energy, recovery and so on relays so much on our sleep. Cravings, look at sleeping patterns. Stressed or poor recovery, look at our sleep quality. Before we look at coffee or health markers, sometimes we just need a nap 👀

3. Manage stress before it manages us.
Let go of what we can’t control and not every request is a “Yes”.

Our future selves will thank us for it 🫳🏾
