The course is open to members and visitors 7 days a week from sun up until sun down all year round weather permitting. Our facility includes a practice putting green and a 3 bay practice net at the rear of the clubhouse available for all Members and Visitors to use. The 7:30 Report Wednesday 9th September
Following last Saturday's AGM, congratulations to the club on yet another successful year with a growing membership and well managed finances and a committed management committee, we look forward to further successes both on and off the course.

Today's par competition was a reminder that wintry conditions can still persist. According to the BoM, it was 7 degrees but felt like 2 with the arctic breeze from the south sweeping intermittent showers across the course.
Undaunted by the conditions three players achieved handicap or better, while the remainder of the field contented itself on staying away from the kitchen sink.

B grade- Bevan Uren (28) +2 (plus 4 on the inward nine) from runner up Mike 'Shifty' Smitheram (21) +1

Saturday's Bluey Russell trophy stableford competition was commenced following the club's AGM.
Congratulations to the 2026-27 management committee members elected: President Darcy Doyle, newly appointed club captain Terry Bonello, Hon Secretary Mike Hoiles and newly appointed Hon Treasurer Nick Ciesielski.
The remainder of the committee consists of returning members Brian Collins, Mick Doyle, Matt Willis, Sean Bassett, Darren Mantynen and newly elected Saurabh Singh.

Hamish Allen (23) took the C grade win and the major trophy with his 39 points. Runner up and A grade winner was Stuart Gunnell (9) 35 points. Sean Smyth (12) snared B grade with his 33 points.
Grade runners up were: Darren Mantynen (10) 31 pts, Brian Freestone (15) 29 points and Sean Bassett (20) 33 points.

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz and 18 players went in search of birdies in today’s Mug o’ the Month stableford sponsored by Macedon Nursery and Garden Supplies.

Good to see Trevor Poulton in competition mode today after qualifying for a handicap.

It was a ‘boiled lollies to chocolates’ journey for Oils Flannery (13) to return the best score of the day and claim the Mug with 39 points. Nick Ciesielski (11) was runner up in A-grade with 37 points.

B-grade produced a 3-way tie with the evergreen Henri Malakunas (31, 34 points) prevailing in the count-back from runner-up Peter Semmens (23) and in turn, Rob Taylor (22).

Saturday's August Sign Obsession Monthly medal was taken out by A grade's Stuart Gunnell (11) nett 65.
B grade went to Walrus (16) nett 68 and C grade to Misty Pickles (21) nett 67
Grade runners up were: Nick Vicary (11) 70, T. Bone (16) 68 and Paul Parker (32) 71.

Jarod Plowman highlighted his day with a monster putt to secure an eagle on the 9th.

Congratulations to the pairing of T. Bone and Darren Mantynen, 5 and 3 winners of the winter matchplay over Hamish Allen and Dave Watt.

Fortunately the overnight rain dissipated and we were able to commence our regular mid week round.
A welcome back from safari to Mike Hoiles, to Bruce from his golfing sojourn in the 'Land of Smiles' and to Chris Martin surviving confrontations with bears and moose in Canada.
Today's end of the month team event was an Irish stableford with the pre arranged team of Freestone, Ciesielski and Martin topping the field with a combined 74 points.
Hoiles, Smitheram and Singh finished runners up with 70 points.
Other scores:
Walrus, R. Taylor and Malakunas 67 points
Fraser, Dawson and Linn's 66 points kept their hands dry as Flannery, Pickles and Allen missed out on countback.
Most appreciative of Oils sticking around for the presentations as his 'team mates' were conspicuous by their absence resulting in his donning the inaugural 'safari apron'.

A grade shared by Hoiles and Ciesielski with their birdies on the 1st/10th hole. Rob Taylor took the B grade NTP on the 8th/17th.

Despite the BoM prediction of a 90 percent chance of precipitation a small, dry band of stalwarts delayed their starting time to their midweek stableford round for a break in the weather, which eventually arrived, however no sooner had each grouping teed off, the predicted steady, persistent rain arrived. It was clear as the animals arrived two by two that there would be no golf completed, and so it came to pass.

Saturday's par competition was played in soggy but comfortable conditions with the odd display of sunshine breaking through.
Overall and C grade winner was Sean Bassett (20) +3, from Peter Semmens (23) -1
A grade's Massive (5) Payne and B grade's Sean Smyth (12) came in even with the card.
Respective grade runners up were Stuart Gunnell (10) and Mike Hoiles (14) both returning with scores of -1.

Saturday 15th August
Back to everyone's favourite, the stableford competition, for the weekend. C grade and overall winner with an exceptionally consistent round was Misty Pickles (21) 42 points. Other grade winners were Matt Willis (1) 36 points and Kevin Taylor (15) 35 points.
Stuart Gunnell (10) 33 points, Walrus Ward (15) 33 points and youngster Jai Watt (28) 37 points were the runners up for each grade.
NTPs: M. Willis, D. Mantynen, M. Doyle and S. Gunnell.

A reminder that the AGM is to be held on the 5th September followed by the Bluey Russell trophy pairs event.

The 7:30 Report-Wednesday 12th August
A single grade today for a 'par bisque with a twist' whereby players had to declare their allocation of strokes per hole following their first shot in contrast to a 'normal bisque' whereby stroke allocations were determined at the completion of each hole.

Winner on countback was Woodend GC's Grace Owens from Mike 'Shifty' Smitheram both players finishing their round even against the card.

What a delightful surprise to return to the clubhouse to discover Tiger Penney holding court as members completed their stableford round for the Calderlink Industries' August Mug o' the Month.
B grade and overall mug was Geoff Pickles (21) following an exhaustive examination of his marker's card. Brian Collins (24) was runner up on countback from Rob Taylor (22) each with 34 points.
Walrus (14) played an erratic round but took A grade with 34 points just pipping Kevin Taylor (15) on 33 points.
NTP to Walrus on the 7th/16th.
Peter Carey snared the only lonely birdie of the day on the 11th.

As the song goes, 'Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.' What type of mad men commence their Saturday morning round in zero degrees with ice blanketing the entire course? Such was the circumstance for the weekend's early starters. Players finally began to thaw out ounce the sun breasted the tree line. Brrrrrr.

We were delighted to welcome back Joggers Andrews for his first outing in a very long time.

Overall and A grade went to Jim Hynes (2) 39 points from Patrick Doyle (3) 35 points. 36 points was enough for David Lee (15) to snare B grade from Kevin Taylor (15) 33 points and young Jai Watt (28) took his first C grade win with 34 points from Hamish Allen (240 31 points c/b.
