COME AND DISCOVER INTERSCHOOL AT THE Royal Adelaide Show

This Saturday, 12 September, Interschool South Australia is taking over the Main Arena for a special Interschool Exhibition Day — and we’d love the wider equestrian and school communities to come along and see what Interschool is all about.

Interschool brings together young equestrians from schools across South Australia, giving riders the opportunity to represent their school while competing in the sport they love.

Throughout the day, our riders will showcase a range of Interschool disciplines, giving spectators a great insight into the pathway, the competition and, most importantly, the wonderful community behind it.

If you’re a school, teacher, parent or young rider wanting to learn more about Interschool — come and find us! Meet our committee, talk to our families and riders, and discover how your school and students can become involved.

And to our wider South Australian equestrian community, we’d love to see you there supporting the next generation of our sport.

To all of our young Interschool riders competing at the Royal Adelaide Show starting today, enjoy every moment. It is a special opportunity to ride on one of South Australia’s biggest stages and something you have worked hard to earn.

Be proud of yourselves, back your preparation, look after your horses and ponies, and ride with confidence. Whatever the result, make the most of the experience and support others along the way.

And to all South Australian riders competing across the show, we wish you every success. It is wonderful to see our equestrian community so strongly represented.

Ride well, enjoy the occasion and be proud to be there.

This means they have completed our accreditation process, including providing the required insurance documentation, meeting stringent child safeguarding requirements, and agreeing to the rules and standards of our sport.
🔍 Our media team members will be easy to spot around the venue, wearing an official Equestrian Victoria hi-vis vest featuring a unique identification number. If you'd like to know who was photographing your rider, simply note their accreditation number and check the media directory on our website.

Stabling and camping bookings for Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre will open 12noon Wednesday August 19th (tomorrow) via Nominate:

WPNEC has plenty of stables, yards and camping availability for each competitor.
Upon logging into Nominate, choose the Venue Werribee Park Equestrian Centre. You will see Aus Interschool event listed. Choose the option that has your state listed. It is useful to have your vehicle dimensions handy - width and length of vehicle plus rego.
Every horse must have a stable or yard booked before the close of facilities bookings on September 2, 2026, via if staying at the venue.

We’re excited to introduce Chilli Smith as our 2026 Equine Stable Designs Interschool South Australia Assistant Vice Captain for the Australian Interschool Championships as we continue our journey to Werribee!

A Year 11 student at Xavier College, Gawler Belt, Chilli is a dedicated dressage rider who has long dreamed of representing South Australia at the Australian Interschool Championships.

Competing alongside experienced adult riders has taught Chilli some valuable lessons, to stay humble in success, resilient through disappointment and, importantly, to always encourage those around her.

While dressage is her passion, Chilli has trained across other areas of equestrian sport and has a genuine appreciation for the different skills and challenges each horse and rider combination brings. She has also supported riders with disability and taken part in an event promoting dressage during Disability Awareness Month.

Chilli loves helping younger riders and has coached beginners at a local riding school. She knows how important it is that every member of Team SA, especially our younger riders and those heading to Nationals for the first time, feel welcomed, included and supported.

As Assistant Vice Captain, Chilli is looking forward to celebrating the highs, offering encouragement through the tough moments and helping build the strong Team SA spirit we are so proud of.

Congratulations Chilli, we can’t wait to have you helping lead Team SA at Werribee!

We are delighted to announce Matilda Kauppila as the 2026 Equine Stable Designs Interschool South Australia Vice Captain for the Australian Interschool Championships.

Matilda is a Year 12 student, eventing competitor and returning Team SA rider, having previously represented South Australia at the Australian Interschool Championships.

With firsthand experience of the excitement, pressure and nerves that come with Nationals, Matilda is passionate about helping every rider feel welcomed, supported and proud to wear the SA colours.

A School Sports Vice-Captain and active Pony Club volunteer, Matilda brings strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills to the role.

We know Matilda will be a wonderful support to our riders and a fantastic leader within Team SA.

We are delighted to announce Eliza Spiers as the 2026 Equine Stable Designs Interschool South Australia Captain for the Australian Interschool Championships.

Eliza has proudly represented South Australia at Nationals since 2019, bringing years of experience, dedication and a deep understanding of what it means to compete as part of Team SA.

An accomplished rider across multiple disciplines, Eliza has enjoyed success at both state and national level. Just as importantly, she is a natural leader who is always willing to support and encourage those around her. Through mentoring younger riders, working in leadership roles and representing our sport with professionalism, she has consistently demonstrated the qualities we value most in a captain.

Eliza leads with integrity, sportsmanship and genuine care for her teammates. We know she will be an outstanding ambassador for Team SA and look forward to seeing her lead our team in Werribee this September.

A huge thank you to the Oakbank Hotel, and the generous hosts behind it, Craig and Hayley, together with their incredible team, for this fantastic community initiative.

Thanks to their generosity, $600 was raised at our Team SA Information Night on Monday evening. Every dollar will go back into supporting our riders as we prepare for the 2026 Australian Interschool Championships.

Thank you for welcoming us so warmly, for hosting us so generously, and for supporting grassroots equestrian sport. We are incredibly grateful to have local businesses like yours backing Team SA.
