A little over a week ago, we had the amazing opportunity to train at the international training camp for the Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do Kyokai.
Hosted at the Eidokin in Fujinomiya, at the base of Mount Fuji, the camp was 3 days of training with and meeting OGKK members from all around the world, coming together to train under the watchful eyes of some of the highest level instructors in Goju Ryu.
Training with not only Masuda Sensei, but also Murumatsu Sensei, Minei Sensei, Hirata Sensei and Teruya Sensei, honorary chairperson and who is an Okinawan intangible cultural property holder for Okinawan Karate all in the same room is something we didn’t think we’d get to experience.
Shannon Sensei, Josh Sensei and Kate Sensei trained hard in 30 degree plus heat, trying to absorb as much information as possible.
From training, to sightseeing, to dinner parties, the experience was incredible every step of the way.
Shannon Sensei has returned to Adelaide getting straight back into things teaching at the dojo, but Josh Sensei and Kate Sensei have headed to Okinawa for further training with OGKK Masuda Karate Dojo .
