Way back when these two champions started at the Highlands Golf Club, who would of predicted the incredible impact they have had on our club. We know it’s still Thank a PGA Pro Day (celebrated globally on the 31 July) somewhere in the world so Happy PGA Pro Day Anthony and Luke. We certainly appreciate all the hard work and dedication you have put into our great club. The only problem is we are still trying to work out who is the actually Pro!

🏆 WINGECARRIBEE CUP – SATURDAY, 27 JUNE 2026 🏆

The Wingecarribee Cup was played on Saturday with 118 starters taking on a course that Josh had prepared to be a fair but challenging test.

It was terrific to see such a strong Saturday field turn out for one of the club’s premier events. Big fields create a fantastic atmosphere, reward good golf, and make victories like these even more special. It’s a great sign of the health of competition golf at Highlands.

Congratulations to David Reumer, who claimed the Wingecarribee Cup with a superb 43 Stableford points.

A champion wood chopper by trade, there were whispers Dave spent more time chopping timber than attacking flags during the round, yet somehow still managed to keep the scorecard clean. 🌲🪓😂

Dave also made one crucial investment before the big day, picking up a brand-new pair of spikes from the Pro Shop. The added grip, balance and dynamic movement were impossible to ignore, with many already tipping them as the real secret behind the victory.

He even asked Anthony for a lesson during the week, but after a brief assessment the coach declined, declaring, “You’re ready.” Another masterful tactical move from the coach, who clearly knew there was nothing left to fix.

Congratulations again to Dave on a well-deserved Wingecarribee Cup victory, and thank you to everyone who played. Seeing 118 golfers competing on a Saturday is exactly what makes these events so special, and we look forward to seeing even more great fields throughout the season. ⛳🏆👏

🌙 NIGHT GOLF JACKPOT 🌙

Another cracking night under the lights with a fantastic crowd lining the clubhouse balcony, all hoping to witness someone take home the jackpot.

The measuring duties were once again in the safe hands of celebrity measurer Larry Canning, ensuring there was no room for debate.

Fresh from conquering the Japanese Night Golf circuit, prolific winner Ben Neal returned to present the jackpot.

But the headline belonged to Andrew Sweeney.

With the very first shot of the night, Sweeney unleashed a shot that couldn’t have flown any straighter. It was an absolute laser from the moment it left the clubface, finishing just 670cm from the pin and setting a mark that nobody could beat.

A huge thank you to Golf Gang for sponsoring the second prize. It wasn’t won on the night, so it was added to the raffle, giving one lucky patron an extra reason to head home smiling.

ARTHUR LICKERMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY 🏆🌞⛳️

After weeks of preparation, team selections, controversial omissions and plenty of clubhouse discussion, a full field of 134 players assembled for the Arthur Lickerman Trophy 4-Person Ambrose at Highlands Golf Club yesterday.

The course was presented in outstanding condition and, despite a testing breeze, scoring was impressive throughout the day.

With several of the fancied teams posting early scores, it was the underdog team that emerged victorious. Led by Captain Courageous Wendell Gerial, alongside Chief Energy Officer (CEO) Peter Wakeling, possible MVP candidate Ben Parkes, and master tactician Luke Bessant, who quietly went about his work with all the strategic nous of Wayne Bennett in a grand final week, the quartet combined brilliantly when it mattered most.

The play of the day came on the 10th hole. As Wakeling reached for the putter, Bessant stepped in with supreme confidence, telling him to put it back in the bag and use an 8-iron instead. Wakeling duly chipped in, while Bessant could do little more than stand there with a grin on his face reminding everyone within earshot, “I told you so.”

While we can’t repeat much of the advice offered to Bessant by fellow members throughout the day, we can confirm it appeared to have the desired effect and kept him fully focused on the task at hand.

A fantastic day of golf on a course presented in superb condition, with great camaraderie, plenty of laughs and another memorable chapter in the Arthur Lickerman Trophy. Thanks to everyone for being involved.

The big events keep coming where next Saturday we are playing for the Wingecarribee Cup so make sure you get your names down!
