Seacliff Paddlers Currarong Weekend - Paul’s Blog
Here’s a lovely blog post from Paul Monaro describing the Seacliff Paddlers annual Rebound weekend in and around the Beecroft Peninsula.

On the weekend of 1 to 3 May, twenty-two paddlers made the trip to Currarong for our 5th annual Rebound Weekend. This has become our ‘go-to’ stop over because of the ideal access it provides to the spectacular cliffs of the Beecroft Peninsula, and to the north-eastern waterways of Jervis Bay.The...

Mark's Tale - Back from a Break....literally.
Playing team sport again alongside my son Marley has been one of the most rewarding, outright fun things I've ever done, and it's kinda reassuring to know that even at my age I could still do some of the things I used to do in my 20's.
Unfortunately one of them was occasionally allowing 'Bad Sundo' out of the Coogee Oval locker, and that often involved trying to whizz a few around the ears of some unsuspecting 20-something year old club cricketer....!
So when our grand final defence started to go pear-shaped a couple of months ago it shouldn't be a surprise to know that such an idiotic burst led to a fractured tibia and whole bunch of torn knee ligaments, most of which I'd never even heard of. Among the downsides of an injury like this was the pain through my knee when I paddled, so although I've been spotted down at Swallow Rock slowly trundling 5km up to Audley and back, I couldn't really go near any beloved waves.
This morning I figured I'd have a crack at what would probably be some fun little rollers at Bay Surf, and they didn't disappoint. It wasn't a great morning, a little bit of drizzle and a stiff sou'easter but intersperesed with blue sky and an unseasonably warm ocean.
I was rusty, my timing was way off, I fell in and still can't work out how (see below...!), and then very carefully remounted with my dusty knee, but by the end I was back riding these remarkable little waves and having a great time.
It reminded me of the hundreds of customers and paddling friends who've openly admitted that paddling gave them a mental health boost that nothing else could conjure, and so it felt for me this morning.
With the world semingly turning poo-brown with each passing day, if you've been off your kayak, ski or canoe for any reason these past months, maybe the madness of the economy or just getting busy with all the stuff in life we have to do, as opposed to the things we choose to do, why not get out there and get wet?
I've been doing this for decades but I still felt the same old thrill when I managed to haul myself onto that first wave, in fact if you watch my little video you'll see it.
Hope I see a lot more of you out on the water sometime soon...!
