Part two: 2022, AKA the year I tried to do everything at once. 🙃
One year in, I had big ideas and zero chill. We did our first photo shoot, I built a website from scratch, made my first merch, posted some truly questionable Instagram content (a hilarious scroll if you're that bored) and I hired my first team member, Erica, who’s now smashing it as a strength coach in her own right.
We doubled our membership base and took the crew bush for a hike and breath-work session. We also had our first novice weightlifting comp at Hawthorn Weightlifting Club, with our very own medals. That’s truly still one of my favourite days in the history of this gym. Most of those lifters are still training with us today, which honestly makes my heart explode. 🥇
Over the years, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that building a business is really about building a team first. Leadership is the most important skill I’ve worked on in five years, and it’s still bloody hard. Brené Brown can only do so much. 😅
2022 was the year it started to feel real. It felt like we were making genuine connections and helping people become stronger versions of themselves, both in the room and online, all the way to Alaska. 🌈
More to come...
