Background - Born and raised in the vibrant streets of South East London, Coach Toby was always destined for greatness. He rocked the finance and investment sales world before embarking on an epic journey that led him straight to OTF. This guy lives and breathes an active lifestyle, constantly seeking out new sports and daring challenges. 🍊

How did Toby find his way to the OTF family ? Well, it's all thanks to his sister, the ultimate OG member, who convinced him to give it a go. "So, I fancy myself a healthy sceptic. When I first heard about Orange Theory, I thought it wasn't for me... I have no shame in admitting that I was very, very wrong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Orange Theory has slotted into my life without putting too much pressure on me, whilst also providing the structure and support I personally need to really commit to it. I know that when I'm moving my body and exercising, everything else in my life seems to fall into place. Orange Theory has really given me that anchor. It somehow delivers on both the structure and variety I need to keep me engaged.

When I joined, I was scared about being surrounded by a bunch of gym junkies who were going to judge me for being out of shape. I was totally wrong. There is a camaraderie in the studio without anyone being in your face or interrupting your workout. There is no pressure to be social, and the support is still very much there. Even on the days I am dreading exercising, the people there are so amazing I don't want to let them down!!"

We had a blast with our Benchmark crew this morning, and we want to give a huge shoutout to all the members who participated. You guys crushed it! Whether you hit a personal best or simply had a good time, we hope you left Orangetheory feeling energised and accomplished.

Tomorrow we hit the FASTEST, the QUICKEST, the don’t blink you might miss it, one of the five benchmarks.
An effort like this you want to tackle head on violence, speed and a whole tone of momentum

Let’s face it, with a distance as short as 200m the effort to get a PB should be violent so when you grab the handle make sure you do so with intent! Squeeze hard, draw the shoulders away from the ears and really focus on driving the elbows back every single stroke so you can activate and utilise the strongest muscles in your upper body , the ones right below the arms, your lats. Don’t be shy about it either, Keep this in mind while you are trying to tear that rower apart!

When it comes to speed, we want you to focus on controlled speed using a high stroke rate. For most of you, that means aiming for 30-40 strokes per minute, but some of you might even exceed 50, 60, or even 70 strokes per minute! To manage that kind of speed, you'll need to use a half slide, something we talk about often in sprint rowing.

And finally, let's talk about momentum. To stay in the swing of things, you need to focus on your torso swing. This is the key to unlocking the power of your hip drive - so use your arms to propel yourself forward, get into that front position, and then react by driving back with everything you've got!

These are the three points you need to keep in mind tomorrow. So let's get out there and show that benchmark who's boss - you've got this!
