Our women’s team came ready to take on the ladder leaders, Newcastle City, and what a contest it was! 🩵
We came out firing, kicking the first score of the game and adding two goals in the opening quarter to set the tone early. Both teams fought hard from the first bounce to the final siren, and while the result didn’t quite fall our way, we pushed the top side all the way. So many positives to take from this game - it almost feels like a win! 🔥
Proud of the effort, determination, and team spirit shown by every player. 💪

⚡️ ROUND 7 IS HERE! ⚡️

On Saturday, both our Senior Men and Women take on a strong Newcastle City 2nds outfit. Two tough contests that we’re embracing head-on as we continue to build throughout the season.

🏠 The Men are at home at Ferodale Oval, so make sure you get down and support the boys. The Power Station will be open with food and drinks available, and the bar will be stocked with our great range from BentSpoke Brewery.

Then on Sunday, our junior program takes centre stage. Our U9 Mixed and U10 Mixed sides kick things off at home before the rest of our junior teams represent the Power across grounds throughout the Hunter. Go Power 🩵

🌟 Congratulations, Scarlet Christie! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Scarlet Christie on her selection in the NSW CHS Team, who will travel to Albury later this season.

Scarlet is one of our talented U14 Youth Girls players who is permitted to play for Warners Bay this season, where she continues to showcase her skills and dedication to the game.

Last night, Scarlet joined our Port Stephens Power AFC Seniors for a training session and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, taking another exciting step in her football journey.

We are incredibly proud of Scarlet and love seeing our junior players develop, grow, and achieve success both on and off the field. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this outstanding young footballer.

Well done, Scarlet – your Port Stephens Power family is proud of you! 🩵⚡️

A big thank you to Joel and Kendal for taking our Auskick kids to Sydney to play during the halftime break of the Sydney Swans vs Richmond Tigers match last Saturday.

We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to our junior umpire, Daniel, and his family for making the trip down and being part of the experience.

Under 12s Wrap-Up ⚡️

Port Stephens started strongly against Lake Macquarie, but our opponents were never going to make it easy.

Our team had to dig deep and fight hard for every contest throughout the game. They showcased some fantastic skills, with strong kicking, great marking, and excellent teamwork as they moved the ball down the field.

With just 10 minutes remaining, Port Stephens trailed by 13 points. Showing incredible Port Stephens spirit, grit, and determination, the team refused to give up, fighting their way back to level the scores and finish with a thrilling draw.

Every player should be proud of their efforts. They represented the club brilliantly, playing with determination while showing great sportsmanship and respect for their opponents.

To top off a fantastic game, both teams proudly sang their club songs after the final siren—a wonderful reflection of what junior footy is all about.

R6 Womens Wrap-Up ⚡

Round 6 saw the women’s team take on Warners Bay, who have returned to the competition this season after a number of years away. While Port sits well above them on the ladder, previous results against similar opposition meant the team knew this would be no easy contest.

The girls came out of the blocks strongly, putting early scores on the board and establishing a lead that they were able to maintain throughout the day. It was a complete team performance, with players across every line contributing and working hard for one another all four quarters, coming away with a strong win 48-26.

The side was boosted by the return of some familiar faces, while a number of players newer to the game continued to step up and grow in confidence. A special thank you also goes to those players who helped out the team this week, with every contribution playing an important role in the result.

The defensive unit was once again outstanding, standing strong under pressure and providing plenty of drive from the backline. Ally F led from the front as captain, setting the tone through the midfield with her work rate, leadership and determination around the contest.

Up forward, Nic H continued her remarkable season, bagging five goals and two behinds. Her performance further extends her lead as the competition’s leading goal kicker and continues a season of outstanding form in front of the big sticks.

The 3–2–1 votes went to Grace B, Grace A and Jayde E.

Grace B not only kicked her first AFL goal but continues to show tremendous growth each week, attacking the contest with confidence and making her presence felt around the ground.

Grace A was outstanding on the wing, working hard in both attack and defence, holding her position well and never backing down from a contest.

Jayde E worked tirelessly throughout the day, providing a strong presence in the ruck while also pushing forward and impacting the contest around the ground. With several huge kicks, crunching tackles and relentless effort, she proved a constant headache for Warners Bay.

Players’ Player went to Bianca C, who returned for her first game of the season and made an immediate impact. Dominant in the ruck and dangerous up forward, she controlled key moments around the ground and even bagged herself a goal in the process. We hope to see her back in Port colours again soon, with her skill, strength and versatility adding enormous value to the side.

An all-round team performance and another important win as the women’s team continues to build momentum through the season ⚡

R6 Men’s Wrap-Up ⚡️

After torrential rain on Friday, it was a beautiful morning for footy on Saturday. The ground held up remarkably well and was in excellent condition, setting the stage for a great contest. The men’s team were fired up and ready to take on Cardiff’s Plate side.

The first half was a closely contested battle, but a combination of skill errors and a lack of balance allowed Cardiff to gain the upper hand. They capitalised on their opportunities and took a six-goal lead into the halftime break.

With a clear message delivered at halftime to address our mistakes and attack the second half with intensity, the boys were ready to respond. However, Cardiff also came out firing in the third quarter, extending their lead in what was a hard-fought and physical contest.

Heading into the final quarter, the equation was simple – we needed seven goals to secure victory. The boys came out with tremendous energy, kicking the first four goals and putting Cardiff under real pressure. Unfortunately, Cardiff responded with two quick goals from turnovers, halting our momentum.

To the team’s credit, they never stopped fighting. The boys continued to press Cardiff for the remainder of the game, controlling play for the majority of the final quarter and kicking the last couple of goals of the match. Despite a spirited comeback, the men ultimately fell short, with Cardiff claiming the win 108–88.

There are plenty of positives to take from the game as the men’s team continues to improve, challenge themselves, and grow each week in the Plate competition.

Best on ground Brock Tye, followed by Reegan Connors and Ethan Wood.

Players player was Seth Fowler
