What a day! Old Boys and Sponsors Day!

Thanks to everyone that came down to watch the Karuah/Tea Gardens & District Cricket Club beat Hammer by 9 wickets!

Hammers won the toss and chose to bat first, we went out in the heat and smoke with intent to bowl them out quick. 2nd ball in the first over bowled one of openers, middle stump and set the pace for our innings, Bowling Hammers out for 118 in 28 overs ๐Ÿฆˆ
Bowling figures:
B. Betts 6/19 off 6 overs
L. Barry 2/40 off 7 overs.
B. Johnson 1/37 off 7 overs
T. Page 1/19 off 7 overs
B. Woolard 0/1 off 1 over.

Our batting innings was short and sweet with T. Page and L. Barry putting on a show for the old boys and sponsors, a partnership of 113 in 11 overs!! Sadly L. Barry bowled and let B. Johnson have a swing to help chase the remaining runs down in the next over.
Batting figures:
T. Page 57 not out
L. Barry 53 bowled
B. Johnson 7 not out.

A massive thanks to all our wonderful sponsors that help make the season happen.
Also to the Old boys who came along and shared a story or two of games played as a Karuah/Tea Gardens & District Cricket Club ๐Ÿฆˆ

๐Ÿ†Result: Vacy Stockmanโ€™s 10/127 off 23 overs / Karuah Tea Gardens Sharks 0/134 off 14 overs๐Ÿ†

This week we learnt of the passing of a young cricketer from Victoria during a training session in the nets which shocked the whole cricket community throughout Australia. We really wanted to show our condolences as a club and part of the district organisation. Both teams felt a minutes silence on the pitch was the least we could do. We stood side by side to honour the young fallen cricketer for an emotional minute.

๐Ÿ Karuah Tea Gardens Sharks travelled to Vacy for round 4 against Stockmanโ€™s in what looked to be unfavourable weather but luckily only a light shower was the only rain we encountered, not hindering our chances of playing.
Stockmanโ€™s won the toss and chose to bat first.
Our opening bowler started strong taking early wickets to help keep Vacy to a manageable run rate. A Bills took 3/35 from his 7 overs and P Mascord keep the run rate down with 0/22 with a maiden over from his 7 overs.
T Page and L Barry joined the bowling attack with some great bowling. T Page got 4/31 off 7 overs, L Barry also keeping the run rate down while taking a wicket with his 1/25 off 7 overs.
Shortly after drinks break M Woolard bowled a maiden over with two more batters to come in from Stockmanโ€™s.
B Betts took 2/0 in two balls to finish out the innings. Vacy batted very well against a fresh bowling attack. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿฆˆ Karuah Tea Garden sharks went into bat chasing 127, a reasonable score.
Opening the bat was T Page and M Price. The pair very quickly got a partnership of 50 within 5 overs and trickled away at the runs to score 134 not out.
Some really great batting from M Price with 51 runs and 8 boundaries.
T Page batted fantastic with 74 runs and 15 boundaries. ๐Ÿฆˆ

๐Ÿฆˆ Sharks win game 3 ๐Ÿฆˆ

๐Ÿ This week we travelled to Dungog to play on there flagship oval against Settlers Arms Hammers ๐Ÿ

Sharks won the toss and decided to bowl first on a great looking turf pitch, this turn out to be a great choice.

๐Ÿ Out opening bowlers T Page and L Barry ripped into there batting attack and didnโ€™t take long before the first wicket fell, bowled with excellent bowling from T Page
Our next wicket was hard fought but some hard to read spin bowling from B Woolard was too much and knocked the bails off.
B Woolard almost straight away with another wicket, caught out there batsman for a duck.
Hammers remaining opening batter charged a beautiful ball from T Page, missed the ball and the lightning fast hands of M Price behind the wickets stumped him. This was when our Sharks smelled blood and hit hard!
The Captain L Barry bowled straight and true to get LBW on a talented batter.
Now, Mr. M Woolard was handed the six sticher and asked to give it all. In ONE over he bowled 2 out for only two runs!! Absolute Master class ๐Ÿ’ช
Not to show M Woolard up but A Grant come on from the other end and took 2 wickets in two overs!! First from a ball the batter misjudged, bowled! and second from another batter charging down the pitch to be stumped again by M Price in wicket keeper.
J Barry had a great spell with the ball getting movement from a well used ball and B Johnston keeping the run rate down from his 7 overs. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ Now, this is where the excitement in the match starts. T Page and M Price opened our batting and put on a real show!
M Price unfortunately was caught by a slower ball for 32 runs after a great stanza.
L Barry walked to join T Page. Both reading there bowling and attacking before L Barry was dismissed for 4.
B Johnston was up with his shining new bat, playing at everything but unfortunately caught out for 2 runs.
B Woolard was pumped and charged out to help T Page against there bowling attack and that they did!
With some excellent batting from both, they put a partnership of nearly 70 ๐Ÿ†
At the end of the 31st over we had them beat, 3/148!
B Woolard 32 not out ๐Ÿ‘Œ
T Page on fire, 70 not out ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿฆˆ The team pulled together to get this win ๐Ÿฆˆ

๐Ÿ First game of our season was a hard fought battle. Stroud/Wallarobba won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a very respectable 241 runs off 36 overs. There openers dug in and made it very challenging for our opening bowlers P Mascord and T page. P Mascord wore them down taking our first wicket. Following bowlers L Barry and B Woolard bowled very well to the remaining opening batsman and his team mate keeping the score as low as possible. B Betts and M Price came into the bowling attack after 25 overs and took 3 wickets late in the innings ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿฆˆ Sharks opening batters faced some fierce bowling, unfortunately M Woolard was out quickly leaving T Page at the crease. L Barry walked out to help score the runs but was caught on 3 runs. M Price joinded T Page in the middle but was also caught out for 1 after facing some great bowling. B Woolard came in at number 5 and set in with T Page to start scoring some runs, a great partnership was beginning and with in 4 overs they score nearly 40 runs. T Page was caught behind by Stroud scoring 27 runs. B Betts walked out and partnered B Woolard. Some hard to play bowling eventually had B Woolard caught out for 21. P Mascord was in next and cleared a ball to the boundry for 4 before caught in great catch. C Golledge joined B Betts momentarily until B Betts was caught for 12 runs. G Lopez-Perez walked out with big expectations but was bowled out with no runs. P Bucior joined C Golledge breifly until C Golledge was stumped by a fast keepers hands. J Barry was in at number 11 and help P Bucior go on to score 3 runs before J Barry was caught ending our innings ๐Ÿฆˆ

Final score Stroud/Wallarobba 241 runs off 35 overs. Sharks bowled out for 72 in 20 overs.
