One of my favourite parts of coaching is helping athletes understand that success isn’t built during competition season… it’s built in the months beforehand.
Every Wednesday, Darcy and I work on developing the strength, power, stability, and movement patterns that will support her sprinting performance when she returns to competition. While sprinting may only last a matter of seconds, there is so much work that goes into preparing the body to perform at its best.
Our sessions focus on building a stronger foundation, improving force production, reducing injury risk, and developing the strength needed to handle the demands of high-speed sprinting.
A huge part of this process is working alongside her sprint coach, Conrad. Communication between coaches is incredibly important, ensuring the gym work complements the track work rather than competing with it. When everyone is working towards the same goal, athletes get the best possible outcome.
Proud of the effort, attitude, and commitment Darcy brings to every session. The foundations are being built, and I’m excited to see where they take her in her next season of comp!! 👊🏽💪🏽
