We offer a range of opportunities for the young and young at heart to experience South Passage - Adventure under Sail.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, operated by our dedicated volunteers. South Passage - Adventure Under Sail. South Passage is a Tall Ship operated by the not-for-profit organisation, The Sail Training Association of Queensland (STAQ Inc.). South Passage is designed as a sail training ship with a focus on youth development. We provide "Adventure Under Sail" and she has taken over 50,000 students sailing over 30+ years. South Passage sails all year round. She is based in Manly, Queensland, but sails the eastern seaboard from Cairns to Sydney. South Passage also offers Day Sails and Voyages for the general public.

⛵🌊 AND THAT’S ANOTHER ADVENTURE COMPLETE FOR SOUTH PASSAGE! 🌊⛵

What a voyage! Mother Nature certainly gave us a run for our money, but did that stop us having a ball? NOT A CHANCE! 😂💨🌧️

Our crew tackled a massive 20-hour sail from Yamba to Southport — now THAT’S a sea story to tell! 💪⛵ There may have been a few tired eyes, but we still had plenty of smiles! 😁

😴 The next morning called for a well-deserved sleep-in and a relaxing start. After all, even salty sailors need their beauty sleep! 😂💤

🎤 Now, about this rumoured talent show… 👀🤣
Were there performances? Hidden talents? Embarrassing moments?
COME ON, CREW… WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS?! 📸😂 We need evidence!

🏝️ After anchoring overnight, we headed ashore at Blakesley’s before continuing our adventure and arriving at William Gunn Jetty. ⚓🌅

❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU to all our fantastic passengers for joining us on this adventure! We hope you’ve made some wonderful memories, learnt a thing or two, and discovered a little more of the magic of life under sail.

⛵🌧️ AND SOUTH PASSAGE SAILS AGAIN! 🌊😂

This time, we’ve waved goodbye to Coffs Harbour and pointed our bow north towards Manly, Brisbane, for a 4-day Adult Public Voyage! ⚓

What’s the forecast? 🌧️ Rainy? ✔️
Rolly? ✔️
Big smiles? ABSOLUTELY! 😁🙌

Let’s face it… we didn’t sign up for a luxury cruise with a poolside cocktail 🍹😂 We signed up for ADVENTURE UNDER SAIL! ⛵💨

There’ll be wet weather gear, a few wobbly sea legs, plenty of laughs, and lots to learn along the way! 🌊💪

Because sailing doesn’t stop just because the weather forgets to cooperate! 😉 Every voyage brings new challenges, new skills, and memories you wouldn’t swap for anything.

Rain or shine, we sail, we learn, we laugh! 🌦️❤️

Fair winds and following seas, crew! Let’s get South Passage home to Manly! ⚓💙

⛵🌊 WHAT AN EPIC 4 DAYS ABOARD SOUTH PASSAGE! 🌊⛵

A HUGE congratulations to our amazing youth crew from St John’s Woodlawn on completing their 4-day Adventure under Sail from Wynnum Manly to Coffs Harbour! 💙⚓

It wasn’t all smooth sailing! 🌬️💨 At times, the wind really turned it on, putting our young crew to the test! But they dug deep, worked together and showed incredible resilience, determination and teamwork. 💪👏

From hoisting sails and tacking to knot competitions, swimming and spotting a beautiful mother whale and her calf 🐋❤️ — what an adventure they’ve had!

Throughout the voyage, they’ve stepped outside their comfort zones, supported each other, built confidence and developed leadership skills that will stay with them long after they step ashore. 🌟

That’s the magic of Adventure under Sail! 🌊 Learning by doing, growing through challenges and discovering just how much you can achieve when you work as a team. 🤝⛵

A massive thank you to the students, teachers and our incredible volunteer crew who made this voyage possible. 🙌

Well done, St John’s Woodlawn — you should be very proud of yourselves! 💙⚓

⛵🌊 ADVENTURE UNDER SAIL – LET THE FUN BEGIN! 🌊⛵

A big WELCOME ABOARD to our newest youth voyage crew from St John’s Woodlawn! 💙⚓

Our 4-day adventure has begun, sailing aboard the mighty South Passage from Wynnum Manly to Coffs Harbour! ⛵️🌊

And what a start we’ve had! 🐋😍 A special moment spotting a mother whale and her calf alongside the ship — nature putting on a spectacular show!

There’s been plenty happening on deck already:
⛵ Hoisting sails and learning to work as a team
🌬️ Tacking and feeling the power of the wind
🪢 Knot competition — who will take the crown?
💦 Swimming and cooling off in the beautiful blue water
😂 Plenty of laughs, new friendships and fun!

But it’s about so much more than sailing! 💪 Through every challenge, our young crew are building leadership, resilience, confidence and teamwork — skills they’ll carry well beyond their time at sea.

Four days, one tall ship, new challenges and memories to last a lifetime! 💙

⛵🏆 WHAT A VIEW! WHAT A RACE! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! 🌊💙

🥳Congratulations to the Winners and all the fleet!!

South Passage was proud to be part of the action as the Spectator Ship for the St Helena Cup! ⛵

Our passengers and crew were treated to THE BEST VIEW of Sunday’s race — watching the excitement unfold from the water, surrounded by sails, sunshine and the beautiful Moreton Bay! 🌞🌊⛵

What a privilege to be part of such a fantastic event and share the thrill of the race from aboard our very own tallship! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved for making it such a memorable day. We loved being part of the action and hope our passengers and crew enjoyed every minute as much as we did! 🙌⚓
