I have had a few people ask me if Just The Basics can be fed ad lib i.e., the horse chooses when to take it. The answer is NO it can’t. Just The Basics is not a waterproofed mix, it also does not have enough filler in it to dilute the amount they may consume if fed ad lib. I have deliberately kept extra fillers out of my mixes to keep the dosage small enough to be fed in small feeds. Here is how I feed it to my 2 easy keepers! A small amount of maxi soy and copra, JTB and gut basics, water to soak and then 500gm of lucerne chaff. I find putting mine in with the dry feed before soaking helps it to disperse evenly. I also feed extra salt to keep them drinking in the colder weather. How do you feed yours???

After a much needed break, Im back in action as of tomorrow 🤗

Winter has hit 🌧 and of course that means lots of rain 🥴
I encourage if you are in a position to hire an indoor facility, please do so when making our bookings. For saddle/bit fittings and lessons, we need a large enough under cover area to ride comfortably, and unfortunately a wet/slippery paddock isnt safe enough.

Obviously we cant control the weather, and i dont mind waiting out and unexpected shower, but planning ahead helps prevent rescheduling. Alternatively we can also book for my facility with the use of an indoor arena (Paloona), which eliminates any hire fees.

Happy to help with locating facilities in your area, or coming up with other plans of action to suit your needs.
