Googong Hogs Renowned for their tenacity, no matter the activity, the Googong ‘Hogs’ enjoy a reputation for strong administration and a ‘never say die’ attitude.

Formed in 1976, originally under the auspices of the Combined Services Club, the Harman Australian Football Club boasted a proud Navy and defence tradition of being the only defence based club in the ACT offering opportunities to defence personnel, regardless of rank, and civilians to play football in an egalitarian environment. In recent times, the Club formed a strategic relationship with the Qu

eanbeyan AFC and offered opportunities for members of the Queanbeyan, defence and wider communities to play Australian Rules football in friendly, fun and family orientated environment. At the Annual General Meeting conducted after the conclusion of the 2015 season, a nearly unanimous vote passed to change the name of the Harman Australian Football Club to the Googong Australian Football Club, and to move our base of operations and home ground to the newly constructed Rockley Oval in Googong.

Your Watson Blinds & Awnings Player of the Week for Round 7 is Scott Townley 👏

Could it have ever been anyone else? Not only did Scott play his 200th game for the Ressies on Saturday but he also backed it up by playing for the Seniors straight after. Just another example of Scotty's dedication and love for the Hogs. The Hogs are lucky to have him 💙💛

We celebrated 200 games for Scott Townley on Saturday 👏💙💛

Not our day yesterday.

Our Women's team kicked us off with some new girls helping us out due to low numbers. ADFA jumped out of the gate with 2 early goals in the first quarter. From here however the girls defense was incredible, keeping ADFA to 1 goal in the last 3 quarters. Unfortunately we werent able to connect up forward meaning we couldn't get on the board ourselves. Disappointing result but the heart showed by the girls was impressive!

It was a big game for our ressies with Scotty playing his 200th. After another slow first quarter the boys kicked into gear kicking multiple unanswered goals to momentarily jump into the lead. Unfortunately after half time they werent able to keep this momentum up with ADFA grinding out the win. Very impressive signs from the boys however with them developing each game!

The Seniors were in for a physical, hard fought game of footy. For the first half the Hogs were right in the contest with ADFA getting a lead but by no means a game winning one. Unfortunately after half time injuries started to mount for the Hogs. By three quarter time the Hogs had no one on the bench and this was going to be tough against a fit ADFA squad. They fought hard but ADFA took control to run away with a comfortable win. Again great passages but still plenty to improve on!

A big milestone and some new/returning faces in this week's teams 💪

Our Womens squad welcomes back Perko, Lisa and Paige. Joining them is 4 new faces on the bench all playing their first game for the Hogs!

The big headline this week is club legend Scott Townley who plays game 200 for the Hogs! He will lead the reserves team out tomorrow. Joining him will be the returning duo of Josh's, club president and reserves grade coach respectively. Also playing his first game of the year is Dre.

The Senior squad also welcomes back some players with Kerry, Dean and Hammer back this week. For some reason Scotty isnt happy with just 200 and has also put his hand up to back up for two games. The boys will be looking to bounce back this week!

Its a very special day tomorrow with Hogs legend Scott Townley playing his 200th game 👏

Scotty is the ultimate clubman and has done it all for the Hogs. He started playing for the Hogs in 2010 or as we were known then, the Harman Hogs. Since then he has achieved so much, with a premiership in 2015 and reserve grade champion win in 2019. He also does a mountain of work behind the scenes to keep the club going, being on the committee for multiple years. The Hogs would not be half the club they are today without him!

Congratulations Scotty, here's to many more games for the mighty Hogs 💛💙

Your Watson Blinds & Awnings Player of the Week for Round 6 is Molly Philpot! 👏

It was a tough day for the Hogs but Molly was amazing in the back line for our Women's team. We lost count of how many intercept marks she took stopping countless opposition attacks. Let alone her composure and ball use setting the Hogs up from defense!

Tough day yesterday at Rockley Oval.

All three sides going down to some very good Woden sides. The Hogs will be looking to learn from these games, hit the training track hard and bounce back next week!

Yesterday we did celebrate 3 very special achievements however. Firstly Gabby and Ali being the first two Women to reach 50 games for the Hogs, not only a special moment for them but for the Hogs as a whole. Secondly one of the clubs favorites Clark played his 100th game, even capping it off with a goal!

We are back next week for three more big games against ADFA, Go Hogs 💛💙
